Checking On The Anel Beehives In January

In this video we go down to the home apiary and check on the Anel Beehives.
We make sure their getting through the winter ok and at the same time giving them a little bit of fondant so they have enough food until spring comes.

Oi! Nifty little trick with opening them holes there. You should have seen me mess about with a hive tool, screwdriver and whatnot 😂😂 Can highly recommend the Anel hives. I love wood but these got HUGE benefits imho.

Still gotta watch the video but already loving it 😂 Checked our 2 Anel hives on Saturday? Saw one with a lot of dead bees in one entrance... Would have sworn they were dead. Nope, opened up and they were thriving! Did add some extra insulation between the roof and the brood box though with fondant on top. Insulation overlapping the brood box keeping it air tight now...(Other has one of those brown feeders on top.)

Hi from central Otago guys, 32 Celsius here🥵 things going well there and good to see Andy on camera👍👍😃 just looked at a new apairy site about 20 kilometers up the road, local farmer wants bee's to pollinate and honey but doesn't have time to keep his own but it's such a great location we ended up agreeing on two apairys for his farm 😂 he's had trouble in the past with commercial beekeepers tearing up his paddocks and not respecting stock gates and then dropping off a 500 gm pottle of honey at the end of the season the stingy cheap sod 😳 🤦 im not sure how it works in wales but most reasonable kiwi beekeepers drop off a box of twenty half kilo jars of honey at the end of the extracting season to pay for the privilege of having bee's on someones land since we don't get charged for placing the bee's on propertys. I give my landowners three frames from every honey super, which they can either have as cut comb or extracted honey that i jar for them myself because without farmers having bee's on thier land you don't make anything but im also pretty fussy about chemicals getting into my colonies and only put apairys on certain farms because of it. Be interesting to hear what your arrangements are in Wales with landowners.👍👋
