Also Rosé is kicking her heels across the floor to push herself but she's so tiny and smooth she made it look effortless lol. This also wasn't my favorite when I first started listening to them but it really grew on me after a while, like all their music does.

This song and Whistle are their debut tracks (both MVs dropped the same day). Lisa is the youngest member of BLACKPINK (believe it or not) and she was 19 years old (March 27, 1997). Rose' is more than a month older so she was also just 19 (Feb 11, 1997). Jennie was 20 (January 16, 1996). Jisoo was 21 (January 3, 1995; missed being a New Years Baby by just a couple of days, according to the Western calendar).

God, the drop hits so hard LOL I always get pumped with this song! Also, sorry Lisa, but I love the original version better than the censored one!! MIDDLE FINGER UP F U PAY ME!! I believe recently in Barcelona (?) on tour recently, when she was about to sing the censored part of the song, the entire crowd actually beat her to it and sang the original version instead. She looked so shocked that she actually stopped rapping for a bit 😂 Oh right!! But the reason why they look like little babies here is because alongside "Whistle", "Boombayah" was also their debut song! They debuted with two songs 👍 Lol another thing! When Rosie Posie was sliding on the floor like that, she actually said that at first it was hard because some of her hair would get stuck and ripped off (ouch), so in the end I believe she had to put something under her back in order to make the sliding a little better. This reaction video was posted a year ago, so you may have found the answer by now but, just in case... the sound you were asking about originated in old Western movies. Indians were depicted doing a circular "war dance" (using movements very similar to what the ladies were doing) around a central campfire, while "whooping". The sound was made by each "warrior" tapping the fingers of one hand (the way you illustrated) while shouting a loud "WOO" sound, and the result was an ear-splitting, rhythmic "WOO-WOO-WOO"! (Incidentally, this same sound would get my brothers and I sent outdoors to play, every time we raced through the house imitating it.) The "Indian War Whoop" gained popularity and was eventually used in scenes when Indians attacked (especially when they raced their horses around settlers' circled wagons, using one hand to hold the bow, another hand to string and fire the arrows, a third hand to do the whoop, and their knees to keep the horse moving in the right direction). As to why a similar movement and sound were used in this video, I would guess that someone in the creative crew was old enough to remember old Westerns and decided this Hollywood-manufactured method of declaring war against someone "invading your territory" might add a little ferocity to Blackpink's image. If not * shrug * it beats the heck outta me, but that's my 2-cents-worth.

The mocking "war cry" sound... where in some stage performances they dance in a circle in a imitation tribal dances and do the hand mouth thing... is really annoying... its just wrong for me... to me it just sounds like mocking another culture... and it totally ruins the song. But then Lisa's rap is so fun to listen to... and "brrr rambo..." is just the best moment.. its so cute that I wish those bars were in a different song. The sound and the dance is so unnecessary, I hope they do a remix where they take it out.
