Such a lovely loco. Really like the mixture of coaches as well
@railwaymechanicalengineer4587Ай бұрын
A mix that in real life would be almost impossible ! The GWR coach had different couplings & corridor connections from the SR, LNER & BR types !!

@CymruRails I hope you are well Thank you am no serious modular I just like to have fun and use rule one. It a preserved loco thst was the reasoning behind the coaches Keep safe ARP

Hi Robin I hope you are well Yes that what i was going for but it seem ive got it wrong. Don't worry i do plan to put her to work on goods soon Keep safe ARP

Right up my alley. It's not uncommon to see this sort of steamy hauling coaches, on preserved railways. 3802 on the Llangollen Railway can be seen doing just that.

Yep with maroon coaches Don't worry i plan to put her to work

Ah, so that's how it should look! My example (a 28xx) has a warped tender chassis that makes it look slightly ungainly when in motion.

TRAIN BRAKES - COUPLING TYPES & GANGWAY TYPES - A MINEFIELD FOR MODELLERS ??? Was that 38xx actually fitted with vacuum brakes ? Many "freight only" locos had no train brakes, (only a steam brake on the engine) as they only hauled "unfitted" non braked wagons, such as coal trucks. Which means of course they physically couldn't haul passenger trains. Another issue is the second coach in the train is a GWR Collett type. The GWR & LMS used a different type of corridor gangway (British Standard Suspension corridors, in conjunction with Screw Link couplings), whereas the Southern, LNER, Pullman car Co, & British Railways used the Buckeye semi-auto coupling which required the use of the semi-rigid Pullman Corridor gangway. Meaning in real life the GWR Collett could NOT be coupled in the middle of the train, unless it was first fitted with adaptor plates, which would not be normal. Something model manufacturers overlook always overlook. Have a look at the shape of the corridor gangway connections on the GWR Collett coach and compare their shape & length with those fitted to the other coaches. You will see they are totally different in width and length so do not match, & in reality could NOT be coupled together. Non-comprehension of real life railway equipment can be a hazard to realistic modelling !!!! Hope that little lot helps you and others run more accurate train formations. Courtesy an ex BR Mechanical Engineer. Happy Modelling ! 😛

@@AdiPullen No worries, but if as a real railway engineer, I post this sort of information it can help all Modellers, have a better understanding of the real thing, and make their layouts even more realistic.
