@robmasterman Thanks Bob! I think its what you would call a superb locomotive restoration - there's hardly a blemish, or a wrinkle even on the finish on the tender. Visually quite superb and it was nice to hear the "Castle Bark" heading away from the station! - Mike

Great shots Mike. You could hear the slight increase in the beat of the engine as it came under the bridge to attack the hill. Stu

Great footage. You really captured a bit of an occasion and that superb GW bark as they leave fro a standing start. I saw the Earl a bit later when he stormed past me at Harrow & Wealdstone at about 12:35. Please take a look at the footage. I'd appreciat it. Barry

@bkendlerA4 Thanks Barry. That's the trade off; I like to see the locomotive and train absolutely fly past like your excellent shot at Harrow. On the other hand I like to get up close and have a look. You also have a chance of some good barking from a standing start - both directions as it happens at Northampton station which is at the bottom of quite a big dip! - Mike

Great footage - just a dam shame about the people talking and that DMU parked on the platform nearest you blocking the view. Love the sound from the departure. Looked like the station was heaving with photographers etc. I had a mammoth day filming it at Milton Malsor, Courteenhall and near your haunt at Chapel Brampton. Liked. - Hayden.

A bit more professional than mine Mike! I'd worked out that the Cotton canal location should be good as it would be up that bank from a standing start, and it didn't disappoint. Going to have to invest in another tripod though because my mate was using again it to take stills at the same time!!!

@Bevoin1970 Thanks Paul - I'm a bit more chilled about that now! It was too windy to have gone "out country". It is one beautiful engine! - Mike

Nice clear footage Mike, shame people keep talking though whilst your recording eh. The train itself looked stunning. I liked it :-) Paul

@S2RUF Thanks Stu. Yes you could hear the change and a little bit further up the hill another notch of steam was opened up. - Mike

@pwalpar Thanks Walter. Panasonic TZ10 - fits in your pocket, in fact it's no bigger than the camera being used by the guy standing next to me on the platform as the train arrives. Modern technology eh! Mike

As some of the other comments, nice shot shame about all the chatting! Well done anyway, nice departure. We had a good day on the trip.

@tubaherby The Cotton Canal location has enough view of the loco to be interesting. Monopod might be an alternative? - Mike

@NN2Blue I'm sorry about the 'pony' bit in my comment - mine was a rather large 'tongue-in-cheek' ;-) It is great to listen to these guys reminisce about their past. My stories of "my mum used to go crazy when a steam train passed at the bottom of the garden after she had put her washing out on line" story is nowhere near what some guys can reel-off. Statler and Waldorf - Sorry, again, but I''ve not stopped laughing :-)

@churchward82c To be fair, I had a chat with that particular gentleman and explained that I was going to take a video. His father was an apprentice at Swindon and had his indentures signed by a certain William Stainier. He's going to offer them to York. I had more of a problem with Waldorf and Statler to my left! :-) - Mike
