GWR 7029 & 5043 - Double Headed Great Western Castles !

The long awaited return of double headed Castles has finally taken place, with 7029 'Clun Castle' & 5043 'Earl Of Mount Edgecumbe' heading a shareholder special from Birmingham Snow Hill to the Didcot Railway Centre for the Didcot Castle Event which would feature four Great Western Castles on display.
The pairing of two double chimney Castles would be a preservation first, as its never been seen since the glory day's and as I've said above its been, maybe 15+ years since we've last seen double headed Castles. I'm still awaiting info on the last time it happened. In this video we capture the outbound leg through the gloriously preserved Leamington Spa station and then at speed at Bishops Itchington. For the return we've planned to see the pair storm up Hatton Bank, so keep any eye out for that video later on or even tomorrow morning.

I went to Oxford and Banbury for the return trip and the footage is now on YT if you'd like to have a look. They were certainly giving those locos some wellie at Oxford! The footage from Didcot will have to wait for another day though.

Even foreigners like me can notice the wonderful design. Surely these locos must be in the top 10 aesthetically speaking steam locos worldwide? In September 2022, an RTC trip I'd booked on was cancelled due to low passenger numbers. This year I've again booked but unfortunately it won't be these superb locos. Superb filming. Some of the scenes could have been 1953, not 70 years later. Thank you for your ongoing dedication.
