Hey Bob. Just found your channel because I just picked up a 2017 GX460 and you have very informative videos. We have quite similar lives though I'm a bit older. I'm also an engineer (mechanical) and I started my education at a community college. Since I had to pay for my own education I chose the most economical option. After 2 years at community college I had all my credits transferred to a 4-year college where I got my BS degree 2 years later and got a job as a mechanical engineer in the defense industry. While working I went back to school to get my masters degree. I also like to wrench on my own vehicles. My daily driver is a Mazda 3 with a 6-speed manual transmission. The GX is our road trip vehicle replacing our RAV4 V6 AWD.

Hey Matt! For sure, any measures to extend its life should be applied. I've had my extensions for such a long time but it has not failed on me yet. Every time i go to costco to fill up my tires with air, i hit the spare too. Its a good lifesaver as it only takes me less than 5 minutes to do rather than to drop the entire tire. The only reason why i probably won't go your route is because i'm thinking of upgrading my wheels/tires and i'll probably do the upgrade on the valve extension on my next set of tires.

You know I really liked your 5 min. rundown on how your mind works on this channel for GX460, just this simple video was great and very useful. And this is how I'm now a subscriber on your site. My wife had to have one, ok she worked to , so I said nothing about her sending the amount of our house of in the days gone by. I own a Chev truck 2006 duramax thats mine. Anyway the Lexus I have only driven less then twice and its a 2016 it sits in the garage all nice and clean, and she jumps in the truck to not get hers dirty, right . So bottom line all the things you show are now going to be useful as things start failing as I will have to start doing the up keep on the Lexus. She was just raped at the dealers of 1800 dollars, when she took it into for service and they said she had to have a new CCV valve and I think she only has around 60 thousand some on it. I found your channel and you had posted on how to do this repair for, what did you say a twenty dollar part. So Thank you for your channel Bob, truly.

Worked for two summers at a BMW specialist shop when I was 17. It was an under the table job. Mostly cleaning, stocking, oil changes and flats but the old timers were awesome or maybe just lazy…When the owner left they would sit down next to a car and tell me how to fix it. Old German mechanic would always say “fits like ass on toilet seat”…. Man that job was tough but I loved every minute of it. Additionally: I will cry if I ever have to sell my 13’ GX. One of the best built vehicles I’ve owned. I checked KBB last week and I was astonished at how little it went down after 3 years and 20k miles. Only went down $3k. BTW my GX has some steering wheel vibration when I accelerated from 60-70mph. Took it to dealer and they did tires balance twice and they said it’s ok. But not for me. Any ideas. All tires are still in good shape. Thanks Bob. I’ve just subscribed your Channel.
@GXBOB2 жыл бұрын
Hello my Vietnamese friend! There are several things to look at and they all play a part in your steering wheel shaking . If you already did the tire and wheel balance, then the next thing you should definitely have your mechanic check out is your wheel bearings. They may need to be repacked or replaced. The third thing to check is did you ever lube your driveshaft U-joints? Dried out U-joints are notoriously neglected on the Lexus GX460. They should be lubed every oil change. I replaced 2 of my Lexus GX driveshafts because of buying them from previous owners that never lubed them. I will be making a video on that shortly.

@@tomma3432 Hey Tom, appreciate the comment. I don't believe there is a reset light on your TPMS for your generation. You either fix your issue (add air until your sensor warning goes away) or you delete your TPMS completely. I"m assuming you bought wheels that didn't come with TPMS or you put on aftermarkets that pose the same issue and you don't want to spent the extra hundreds to add the TPMS. Either way, personally, i would fix the issue instead of putting a bandaid on it. Resetting it requires you to put air in ALL 5 tires to 35psi or above, including your spare.
