2020 Lexus GX460 grill modification for 2014-2019 emblem

It's just what the title says - I had to modify the emblem opening in the 2020 front grille in order to install the 2014-2019 Lexus emblem. The reason why I did this instead of just buying a 2020 emblem is that the dealer charges $300 for the OEM emblem. The cover page is what the original 2020 emblem opening looks like before I trimmed all the plastic off.

Had a question I have a 2015 luxury model. Are there differences in emblems between the luxury models with crash detection. I'm looking to change mine with a pearl black emblems. But I have seen them listed on ebay and they say with out crash detection in the listing. Thanks for your videos the best 460 videos I seen.

Let me ask you a question, did the dealer's Parts department give you grief regarding the purchase of the grill? I know anytime I go to the dealership they want to know what my VIN number is, etc... Meaning, as If I have to have that particular M.Y. Lexus..

Absolutely not! I made the entire purchase online without any human interaction. The purchase was made out of state at Bell Lexus in Arizona because NO TAX and they had a promotion of $22 for shipping due to Covid-19. I think the promotion ends on July 31. I would double-check. You have to buy 2 parts: The top grille part # 5310160G30 for $542 and the lower grille part # 5311260340 for $139. NO TAX and super cheap shipping if you use the coded SHIPLEXUS by July 31. You can use your old emblem or go on eBay and buy a new emblem for around $50, part # 53141-60090. parts.belllexusnorthscottsdale.com/ DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT !!!

I'm assuming your GX has the pre-crash system? I just bought a GX with a cloudy emblem (has pre-crash) and trying to figure out how to clean/swap it without paying $300 to the dealer..

My GX is bareboned with absolutely nothing. Base model with no parking sensor or cameras or any bells and whistles. I preferred it this way since i was going to do a lot of stuff on it myself. As far as the emblems, the 2017 fit directly into the 2021 grill with some bit of trimming. Nothing major.

What did u mean Kam? Are you asking am i going to replace the headllamps to the new 2020? Most likely not, 2 headlamp assemblies is a lot more than what i want to spend especially when the 2014-2019 headlamps look fairly nice already.

I think it should have used grinder when bumper was removed, its easier from inside to cut it.

i think it really comes down to preference whether you choose to attack from the inside or outside. I had a better view of the lines to cut from the outside plus i had a better angle to cut from.

I chose not to install the front license plate. It looks ugly. I"m going to have to deal with the fix it ticket if it comes to that. Crossing my fingers.

The lights have absolutely nothing to do with the grille. The hourglass insert is the same shape from 2014-2020. Remember, you are not changing out the bumper. You are only removing the center grill within the hourglass frame.

My Gx is the Lux. trim as such have sensors on the glass Lexus emblem. If I change the grill do will it require recalibration of the sensors and front view camera?

that logo definitely doesn't fit there, I did mine and I wish I didn't ruine the bumper, bottom part doesn't snap into that clip, there is big gap visible and top part has logo plastic visible from top, buying new logo is must unless you want weirdly looking emblem that doesn't sit properly

Peter, you’re taking a different year part and installing it on a completely different grill. Of course it’s not going to fit. The point is to modify to make it fit to the best of your ability to save money. I rather not worry about some gaps then to go buy a 2021 emblem.

how does the logo looks? can't tell it's not for that bumper right? I tried to order off eBay two different ones one for 50 another for 170 both came in fake and also doesn't fit. Will have to come also most likely

The best you can do is center it as much as possible. You can only notice the gaps if you really look for it. I have a small gap on top but its not noticeable at all.

When you put the emblem, did the bottom tab clip in and hold securly or does it come off...did mine today and it doesn't seem to hold in

Mine did. Use a little bit of hot glue gun plus I wouldn't be to worried as the top 2 screws are pretty secure.

just did mine, does it seems to me or it have way too wide opening between hood and grill part. It feels gap is too wide. I installed everything properly.

same here. I have a gap too but it didn't bother me as much. I looked at the overall improvement and disregarded the gap.

Considering i had a gap when installing an old emblem to the new grille, i would assume the new emblem would be too large or a super tight fit for the old grille. I haven't tested it out but that poses an interesting mod.

You won't get an exact fit but at least you have the ability to center it as you tighten in the screws. The gaps are not noticeable at all. Unless you have OCD, then God help you.

Eric. It's really straight forward. Id you look at the pattern of precut emblem vs the post cut emblem, it outlines where the cut should be made. There is no right or wrong way to use the cutting tool as ong as you get the angle you need to make the cut.

If you look at the body of the description, it itemizes the cost of each part i purchased. Top Grille #5310160G30 = $542.38, Bottom Grille #5311260340 = $139.93. YOU NEED BOTH GRILLES TOP AND BOTTOM. Lexus Emblem = Use your old one from 2016 with my other video. I bought both top and bottom grille at Bell Lexus in Scottsdale, Arizona because of No Tax and Free Shipping promotion going on till the end of August 2020. I did not purchase an emblem because the cost was upwards of $300 for an OEM 2020 Lexus (which is ridiculous).
