Nous étions à la Plage Idéale (Laval) au bord de la Rivière des Mille îles, un soir/nuit au milieu des années 90. J'ai demandé à un ami qui trippait fort sur la musique: ''eille connais-tu un bon nouveau band ?'' pour casser l'ennui du moment. Il m'a immédiatement dit oui: J'arrive du show de Sonic Youth et il y avait un band en première partie, ils ont joués dans le noir et tout ce que l'on voyait était les lumières d'amplis. C'est québécois en plus ! Il m'a nommé le nom du groupe et, je suis allé chercher leur premier cd à l'Oblique. Puis, le vinyle. Puis, tous les vinyles du groupe au moment opportun. En écoutant Godspeed You! Black Emperor auourd'hui via you machin aujourd'hui, WoW leur musique est là pour rester et va devenir plus forte avec le temps. Merci tellement pour votre musique

Yeah, F#A# was the first of theirs I got into a little before college when a friend burnt me a CD with that album, and I think some Silver Mount Zion as well but i may have found that later via filesharing. lolol Anyways, I kind of forgot about them but am now in a band with friends who are huge fans of them and Swans, with whom I wasn't really familiar other than in name. SO I decided to give Godspeed another listen while working and smoking a bit. Seems like a good idea so far, I just listened to Skinny Fists and am really enjoying the revisitation of F#A#. Hell of an upload!

Hello Godspeed Guy, this is great to have in a single video. I do have a different question--on their latest tour shirt, the back has a comment "final two tours". Does this mean that the only band that matters in the world is hanging up it's hat? This would be a true tragedy, if so. The world had to wait in darkness for over a decade when The Clash imploded before GY!BE took up the mantle.

Dude GY!BE are anti-capitalistic as fuck, they preach leftist ideas, most of the members can be labeled as anarchists etc etc. The back cover of Yanqui UXO shows a sketch depicting the relation of several major record labels to the military-industrial complex, they rarely miss a chance to denounce the fact the music industry is run by people only interested by money, they allow and probably incite people to make bootleg of their live shows and make them available on the web, even when it’s unreleased stuff they plan to put on a future LP… I get where you are coming from, but GY!BE are maybe the worst band to make this argument lol They’d probably want to release all of their music for free, since they don’t strike any music on any site, if you follow their political stance on a lot of things I’d deduce they don’t mind for the average listener to have the choice to hear them for free or pay money if he wants to support.

You don’t know how KZbin copyright system works. Most record labels allow copyright music on KZbin as they found a system (aka KZbin Copyright ID System) so that any videos with copyrighted songs will have the advertisement revenue go to the copyright holders of the music (aka GYBE in this case). The person who uploaded this isn’t making any money from this.
