This xg business irritates me. We had high xg saying we should be 4th when we were actually 6th. We created lots of chances last season. We can only get points if our finishing is more consistent. There is no indication of that. Jackson is still wasteful. And there is no better alternative.

Nico is the same! He gets in great positions and scores 2-3 yards tap-ins but then makes runs and is found with great passes and always fumbles the 1v1 situations. He is simply way too wasteful! We need a proper striker. And to those who say hey Drogba scored less in season 1 slap yourself! Drogba never missed 24 big chances especially not in one single season and scored less because Chelsea created much less. Put Jackson in that Chelsea side with that style and he is lucky if he bags 5!

Fighting for fourth: TOT, AV, CHE, MU, NEW, WH, FUL, B&H. Some of this lot are better than others in players, depth, coaches. Challenges will be mid-week games, travelling, international breaks, compressed Dec and Jan games and tournaments. Chelsea will be in a dog fight. Playing European soccer after 2 yrs. Utilizing an unsettled squad. When they do settle, there comes Dec & Jan transfer market turbulence. Internally, Chelsea has financial objectives and regulated compliances. So they will sell and buy players on a £££ rationale vs team squad build loyalty commitment. Nò reasonable offer refuseď for any or all. This window was very questionable, over values for some vs under value for others. Then the isolation or discarding or pushing away for several. We have the same issues ( goalkeeping, defence, dominant holding mids, finishing striker) but albeit a better starting squad and deeper bench. Can Maresca start, build and maintain a highly competitive 4 th place team with the available 22 players? Can he vary the recipe to compensate for our deficiencies?
