Can totally relate. When I was doing fullstack before, there was a lot of resistance especailly that our task were more on the backend. The only reason I tried to convince myself to keep on doing fullstack is because I felt function is more important than design, and that somehow became my self-validation to society. But I wasn't happy doing all those functional backend stuff. I know things can work without aesthetics and probably, design is just going to be secondary, but I really feel alive using my artistic skills and I feel I can pour more of me here, so yeah, I'm going for frontend.

@@MagusMarte I stopped doing web dev haha. I actually transitioned now to UX design. I realized that I didn't want to code. I wanted to design for people. Not just aesthetics, but better experiences. Can do that in web dev maybe, but I felt the work is too technical and missed some user research and psychology aspect (but I'm just basing it on the opportunities that have opened for me). I'm enjoying UX right now really, way different than when I was learning and doing dev. But the learnings I had from dev definitely helped me here in UX. Like, I can take in and consider both the user and dev perspectives :)

Definitely software engineering for pretty much any 'practical' (i.e. industry) programming. CS is generally more aimed at research (although it will still be fine for industry as a lot of people take CS without the intention of staying in academia). Although if you're comparing between different institutes, CS may be better than SE since some institutes just have worse curriculums than others
