I think its one thing that u chose the path of becoming a software engineer, second young soldier u've been to Switzerland!!! Not san Diego for anyone else peeping this. Two reason why I love this field: 1) It's a transferable skill and 2) it challenges you to learn. It's a transferable skill because you can work for yourself or work for a corporation. It challenges you because there's always something new to learn you didn't know before. Great video, by the way 👌🏾

The creative part I love the most about programming is thinking of and implementing beautiful solutions to complex problems. I just enjoy it so much to simplify a really complex problem with well organized, clean and readable code. Most people think programming is a lot of math and just spitting out code, but it is also a lot about composition.

Really loved this video, I've been a software developer for a year now myself - definitely lucky to be in the role with only 2 years front-end web developer prior experience - and I absolutely love the work I do. I don't really like the company I'm doing it for but never before have I been so happy with my job even when not happy with the company culture outside of my department. The opportunity to work remotely and travel is the biggest reason why I got into this field; well, that along with the ability to create something you can build a business around. I think it's a fantastic field to be in, and I enjoy it very much :) Awesome video! I feel the same way about the point you've raised, it's nice to see someone highlighting the positives about the job.

Side projects are things that interests you. For example I built an app that tunnels WhatsApp into Wikipedia and Wolframalpha so I can search or query them with WhatsApp messages and get results there. Easiest way to think up side projects is automate something, or fix something you wanted fixed or something you find fun.

@@phenomenonone6024 As a somewhat intermediate software engineer, it depends on your skill level "xor" intrests. It also depends what expertise you are trying to gain for future employment. I would suggest having maybe a android app with a solid backend an db service, If you want a challange maybe build a db sql server. When i was looking for work i had built 2-3 projects, one of which that alot of companies found intresting and is the reason for my employment was a project i built to visualize, analyze diffrent algorithms.

Would you say the same for all adjacent roles? How about the Product/Project managers? Architects? I'm trying to determine if I should actually code, or gather experience as a PM since I am more of an extrovert (and have a business background too).

@@waterfalls8528 full-time is 3 months, and part time is 6 months. It wasn't too difficult given how well you study and apply yourself, but the material I caught onto pretty quick since I was studying a few months prior. You know... I'm studying the first year of a profesional grade of Software Development and I have been feeling overwhelmed recently, questioning if I could ever aspire to migrate to any other country to work or if I could even learn to programming, maybe you don't realice (or maybe yes) what you can do with this type of videos but you really fixed my insecurity with this one. Thanks, for real.

I am not old in this field actually I am changing career from communication(journalism) to software. Covid19 taught me a lesson. Just feeling to learn, learn, learn coz this field is promising. why I love coding is flexibility, and you can set your pace to learn, and feel main part of the company you work for. It is like wisdom, if yo are a senior /junior developer for sure your are that, and it is about what you do that matters and not about connections like other areas(journalism etc). All people in this industry are like children of one mother, willing to help any time provided they are available. The list is endless.
