Wolf position looks like the a wolf's front legs when they leap (one bent, one straight). Stag position looks like stag's legs when they jump. Sheep jump looks like a ram's antler's that grow in a circle. Cat is because you hop very lightly on the beam (quiet as a cat). Butterfly is supposed to look like wings.

I was always taught to cat leap like a hitch kick in attitude. So that the first leg up is the first leg down, as opposed to first leg up is the LAST leg down.

Just a comment on the deduction for falls. Back in 2006-2008 I really thought that the deduction should have been 2.0 points. This is because in the 10.0 system a fall was the equivalent to 5 D elements because a D was only worth 0.1 back in the day. If we use this logic the equivalency of a fall in the open-ended system should be 2.0 points. Just something I always thought.

Honestly I think the cat leap looks similar to a pas de chat (step of the cat) in ballet, but going forward on beam instead of sideways across center in ballet. It even is a turned out move! :)

Tbh, I’d take a quiz on this stuff. Also thank you for the gif loop of the E pirouettes, especially the Ling. I used to always think they were doing 2 Healys. Also differentiating reverse vs L grip. Outside of Onos and Lings, I noticed that many gymnasts do an endo circles in L grip. Gabby Douglas did an endo after her Healy in her 2012 routine, so that was obviously L grip, but in 2016 she did an in bar half to L grip before doing her to endo. I believe Norah Flatley also did endo out of her half turn to L grip too. Nastia might’ve done the same (in bar half to L grip) in her routine, I think. I’m gonna start watching more bar routines and see if they do their endo is reverse or l grip after their half turn. 😂 For Jeagars, I usually assume it’s reverse grip unless they did a Healy or Ling before it like He Kexin.

Umm you got the person wrong, it was Carlotta Ferlito who made racist remarks and she did apologize even though some american gymfans wished death upon her. Also they praise Ferrari for having such difficult routine for a first year senior not for racist remarks (which she didn't even make) 🤦‍♀️
