the biles should definitely be an I element. maybe even a J element. the fact that they don't want to encourage it it's just non sense. first of all the gymnast needs to have enough power to do it, and not just power, a lot of technique and rotation and any coach or gymnast with sense of reality would know if the gymnast has or not all of this abilities.
@cobra72823 жыл бұрын
@@leykimayri I get where you're coming from, but that could be the argument for any of the highest rated skills. That a coach is pushing a gymnast beyond her capabilities leading to injury. Should they just downgrade everything that comes with risk if not executed properly?
@cobra72823 жыл бұрын
@@leykimayri Poor example. The Thomas Salto is banned (along with the other roll out skills as well) because roll out skills in general were deemed dangerous because you land on your back and not your feet. The Biles is not more dangerous than any other acrobatic skill, but is simply more difficult to do and thus less people could successfully pull it off.
@cobra72823 жыл бұрын
@@leykimayri Also in the case of Mukhina, the issue wasn't that the Thomas Salto was too difficult for her (as she has successfully performed in before), but that she was being pushed to get back into full training before her leg was healed which caused her to not have enough explosiveness to complete the rotation. That along with doing a skill that is very dangerous if even slightly underrotated is what led to her condition.
@cobra72823 жыл бұрын
@@leykimayri Sure, but those would be big over/under rotations and not slight ones. Also most elite level gymnasts can perform a double flipping skill off beam. The biggest issue they would have is getting a full 2 turns at the same time. Hence most gymnasts won't even try it and the ones that do are the ones that have the athleticism required to pull it off. They will know if it is something they can safely attempt after safely attempting it into a foam pit many times as they do with any new acrobatic skill that they are learning. They won't even attempt to land it on a mat until they can routinely get it to their feet in the pit.
@cobra72823 жыл бұрын
@@leykimayri Never suggested at any point that it was easy......I suggested that a lot can do double flipping skills on beam dismount, not the Biles, lol. What’s so frustrating too about the nerfed Biles rating is that when it’s only .1 more valuable than a full in, Simone effectively loses any bonus to doing that dismount because she usually needs to take a few seconds extra time to prepare herself for that dismount, and that means a .1 deduction most of the time. Like the judges deduct for long pauses in a routine and every time she’s done the double double dismount I’ve noticed she needs that pause to focus. So in order to perform it SAFELY, she will probably lose .1 points before she’s even done the dismount. :/ But yeah this is about athlete safety right? Says the same FIG that won’t let the gymnasts do one touch warm ups in event finals for no reason.

I agree with the FIG that is its duty to think about the safety of all the gymnast, but the way they are treating almost all the new skills Simone Biles performs is a little bit to much. I get that she's the only one that (at least now) is able to perform them and they want discourage gymnast to take unworthy risks, but they should balance their judgement better. They recently gave to biles' double pike at vault just a 6.6, for a skill only performed by male until now. As a matter of fact , the skill would have deserved at least a 7. Make it even and make a 6.8? The same with the Biles at the beam. I get is difficult, dangerous and whatever, but at least a J would have been fairer

The layout full is harder in my opinion. It is hard to stay centered in a twisting skill (it doesn't matter if you are dismounting, but it does matter when you are landing on the beam), gymnasts would incur more deductions (piking down, wobbling, etc.), and it could be downgraded if someone's knees are too bent.

@@mayafrancis9846 Yes, people expected it to be rated higher. A = 0.1, B = 0.2, C = 0.3, D = 0.4, E = 0.5, F = 0.6, G = 0.7, H = 0.8. Simone Biles only earns one extra tenth of a point for doing this dismount instead of a G-rated one (like the full twisting double back, for example, which has been performed in competition for decades). So if she incurs any deduction on it at all, like a small step on the landing or a low chest position, it's lost any bonus value whatsoever. There is no reason to perform something so difficult when it gives no practical advantage in the final scoring.
@mayafrancis98463 жыл бұрын
@@educatedinyellow8189 oh thank you, what rating do you think it deserves?
@educatedinyellow81893 жыл бұрын
@@mayafrancis9846 Ah, that I must admit I don't know. I'm really not very knowledgeable about the history and technicalities of scoring. So I will give this imprecise answer: I would have liked it to be scored in such a way as to make it worthwhile to perform for Biles, but not such a high rating that it would be a huge temptation for others to take a chance on doing it just for the sake of making up a lot of points in one move. I think it's a shame that its scoring advantage is so low that Biles rarely performs it, and I don't believe that the move is an undue safety risk for her because she trained it responsibly and did not perform it in competition until she had mastered it. My impression is that because Biles is in the rare position of by-and-large dominating the field, she is not under pressure to risk doing moves she's not consistently able to land safely, because she doesn't need those extra points to give her a chance of winning and it would be foolish to risk injury by throwing a big skill that she could barely land -- that's not her strategy or her coaches' strategy, and that's very much to their credit. One of the most amazing things about her contribution to gymnastics, in my opinion, is that she's not only innovating and introducing skills of unprecedented, or nearly-unprecedented, difficulty on multiple apparatuses, but she's doing so without sacrificing safety. She's also not rushing out skills that are barely prepared, the way some gymnasts have had to do in the past in order to get the skill named after them. When the FIG stated they had safety concerns about this move, I think they meant they were concerned about the possibility that some other gymnast or coach, knowing that throwing a big high-difficulty skill worth multiple extra points was their only chance of catching up to the scores of someone like Biles, might not be careful enough to master the skill first before attempting it in a high-profile competition like the Olympics. The hunger for a medal can push people to take unwise risks. FIG gave a minimal point bonus to this move because they didn't want anyone but Biles, or someone of equal preparedness, to attempt it. On the one hand, I understand that concern. On the other hand, it seems unfair to deliberately fail to reward a gymnast like Simone for innovating spectacularly and safely simply because you're afraid others might not be that responsible. Finally, I should add that this situation is not unique to Simone. There are, I think, a few other highly difficult moves that the FIG has awarded minimal bonus points for in their code because they've come to the conclusion that it's a bad idea for almost any gymnast to try them: the Produnova vault, for example, is so difficult that it's only been landed properly in competition once to my knowledge. I think most gymnastics fans would agree that it objectively deserves a higher difficulty rating than its current 6.4 rating, but the FIG has downgraded it repeatedly to discourage gymnasts from trying it.

"thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour"; for this reason, lying is generally considered a sin in Christianity. Pride is often considered a negative force in human existence-the opposite of humility and a source of social friction. It's even been called the “deadliest sin.” ... Pride makes us feel good, and it's an indication to ourselves that we are behaving in a way congruent with the values of our society. DONT say that someone or yourself is ugly it means your saying your DONT like the way God made you but he made you that way for a reason.” Also please do not believe in fortune tellers or magic because God has been planning for your future “A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.” “A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends” (11:13; 16:28, NIV).” Jesus Christ called the Holy Spirit "Spirit of Truth" (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13) and warned us, "All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men" (Matthew 12:31). Also when saying Jesus or God please have them in capital it means something horrible or bad also when saying You and Your when talking about them also when saying Bible.

That’s contradicting. Why accept it then give it a low rating. Hmmm 🤔

Favorite is the Biles and that “explanation” they gave was complete and utter bullshit, and tbh quite RACIST, why? because when lil ol’ white girl Carly Patterson was the only one consistently performing “the Patterson” they gave it its rating because SHE aka “the one gymnast” was performing it, so tell me what’s the difference between that logic and Simones....? Lol THANK YOU 😊

So I'm confused...do people want the Biles dismount to be rated an "I"?
@chantaljentzsch82373 жыл бұрын
Yes,ist should be an I or J. It is so difficult to do this!

If you ‘cowboy’ too much, do you get a PG rating?

They always mention "safety", but no gymnast is forced to do a skill. If they choose to do a skill that Simone can do, then that's their choice. They talk about how there is no "flare" anymore and then silence gymnasts like Simone who are pushing the boundaries.

“no gymnast is forced” bad example. like you actually sound dumb.

It’s our responsibility to push the limits of our bodies besides they act like gymnastics as stayed the same throughout the years. Why have they improved the equipment if not to stay safe but to also allow for more difficulty in skills performed. What other skills have been down graded due to difficulty 😢?

If you don’t think you can handle the skill, then don’t try it.
