@You-dh1du3 жыл бұрын
@@colesmith7509 uh, have you seen photos of Komova performing an inbar? She has the deepest pike position. Only gymnast I can think that comes somewhat close to her inbar position is Melnikova. She could quickly bring her legs to her chest and her slim body honestly helped with her generating the transition from low to high bar. Sorry but I agree to disagree with you. I will agree that most gymnasts do not perform inbars properly. They don't really pike down like Komova, which I find unfair. Madison Kocian was an example of a gymnast who barely missed the bars with her toes while performing inbars. Honestly, though there's no point performing a Komova since it's objectively more difficult to perform well especially in combination, and it still does not have the proper difficulty value.

The way gymnastics is scored is absolutely bananas. I watch it pretty regularly and still get lost as to why they got a certain score. Hell, as fast as they move, its often difficult to discern what skill they even performed. I wish when the televised the competition they would show on screen what skills are performed and the announcers should talk a bit more about why something is scored like it is; instead of the vague overall impressions that they usually give or discussions of a gymnast’s history. The sport would have more consistent viewership and a larger fan base if a casual viewer had a clue what was happening beyond “holy shit, id break my neck if I tried that.” Lol
@matthewhines97873 жыл бұрын
I agree with all except the 3.5. I don't think the idea that a skill lends itself to certain kinds of form deductions (crossing ankles) should necessarily be a reason for a higher or lower difficulty rating. Different skills have their own predispositions to various deductions. For the DLO, that's lack of height, overarched or piked body position, lack of discernible body shape, flexed feet, low chest position. I don't believe the DLO is any easier because it's done more. I think the DLO is done more because double salto and the correct technique to get them is stressed earlier and harder in development. Therefore, developing sustainable twisting technique is common and that is what makes those types of skills less common. after a gymnast gets the back LO 2/1, they go directly into working a double tuck; not a 2.5 twist, and from the tuck they go to training the double pike.

@Sarah-wd6xr3 жыл бұрын
The YDP is appropriately valued in relation to other vaults. Flipping backwards is easier than flipping forwards (so a Yurchenko double tucked should be lower than a prudanova) , but since it’s piked instead of tucked, it should be slightly harder than a prudanova (at 6.4), which the YDP is at 6.6. In the new code, either the prudanova at 6.0, the YDP will likely be a 6.2, which will also be appropriate relative to other vaults.

@@Sarah-wd6xr YDP in no way should be rated higher than Produnova. not with Yurchenko entry and spotted landing. the issue is, Produnova is already highly underscored, so placing YDP above it creates a bit of a chaos. @Sarah-wd6xr3 жыл бұрын
@@hannibaljustincase9985 I agree with you on the rating of the Prudanova - I think it is harder than the YDP. However, I think if you follow the logical progression of the existing code, it should come out slightly higher since it's piked rather than tucked. I'd rate the Prudanova highest of all though - people compare the men where the Yurchenko double saltos are harder than the handspring double saltos (and so say YDP should be higher than Prudanova), but yurchenko entries are easier for women than handspring. TL:DR, I agree with you, but either way the YDP is definitely not undervalued.
