Looks like you need a box on the spreader for that plate. 👍👍👍

A BOX for the plate and OTHER thingz stuff like ROX ;) that is an AWESOME spreader! :) trying to get him or RON (HARTUNG FARMS) to discuss the differences tween the BDI and the SNIPER one with the 4 diff spinners and 2 BELTS (right and left, not dual product) that SHNIPER one sure seems sweeet for when you needin to get very specific where it goes...

1. Need to make a holder for the plate on the spreader so it always stays with the spreader. 2. The science behind farming sets you apart from other KZbinrs. Keep it up.

Hey Nathan, In a future video can you break down your cost to apply, fuel, equipment depreciation etc versus what you were paying to have a commercially applied. Not factoring the peace of mind knowing it's done right. As always love the content.

Not to state the obvious but the first time I saw you take that diverter plate off, I thought they need a storage place in the spreader. I know I would always forget it somewhere.

Awesome video Nathan. I love how you explain all the science and the reasons you do what you do, very informative. I’m a young farmer in Indiana trying to do some of the soil amendments you are. Keep the videos coming!

Interested in the base saturation numbers. We just started getting sample recomendations from Neal Kinsey after reading his book hands on agronomy. He has a podcast which is very interesting also. From what I understand from him you want gypsum when your calcium is above 60% but there is an excess of another cation such as mg. He has some interesting discussions on ph, says we should lime fields based on calcium needs to get to 68% ca and that ph is a result of having all the cations (ca,mg,k,na,H) in correct ratio. Each cation has a different charge power and will affect the ph accordingly. Never knew mg or k or sodium had an affect on ph. For example he explains a soil could have a ph in the 8’s and still need calcium lime because the soil was way high in sodium. Lime was applied and ph came down! Because it bullied off the sodium from the soil colloid. Thanks

With Sulfur being susceptible to leaching are you going to keep your rates in the starter fertilizer the same as before or are you going to cut back because of gypsum? I work at a CO-OP and we typically add sulfur pellets with pre-plant dry fertilizer on the corn and wheat ground. The pellets are like 90% sulfur something to look into for your operation. Another product to consider that you could look into since having your own spreader is called MircoSync

If you end up driving right on the edge of your fertilizer zone does the spreader go with the higher or lower rate?
@BorderViewFarms2 күн бұрын
Which ever is the majority but I think there is a option to chose the higher or lower zone by default.

@BorderViewFarms2 күн бұрын
No I'm using the recommendation from our crop consultant. They have the results I just have seen the actual soil test results. They build the prescriptions and send them to me. At some point here I'll get a book with all the Maps and test results printed off.

knowing what you kno now, would you have RATHER have gotten the upgrade, with the dual belts, and the 4 spinners?? the SNIPER VERSION??? for even better section control??? or is that 2 section gunna be FINE AND DANDY in your operation??? I can see how 4 sections, 4 spinners, and 2 belts would help RON over there at HARTUNG FARMS cuz of the narrowerer HAY FIELDS they do, the thin runs they put up in bails... they can keep it very localized the fert and stuff, instad of a 60 or 100 foot wide path it can be 4 swaths of 25 feet or wutever...

50 ton of potash is probably 600 a ton. 30 grand for that. You easy have over 100,000 in all that fertilizer and lime. How does 4 dollar corn and 10 dollar beans pay for all that plus all the fuel to do tillage? You are getting 1990 prices for your crops and fertilizer cost 500 x what it cost in the 90s. A tractor in the 90s probably cost 80 grand now they are 400 grand. I am a math guy and farming has never added up to make much money.
