As someone that has seen every episode of Love after Lockup lol I can tell you their prison relationship is like others when coming out after doing time. The person in prison is wanting someone they can use and the person on the outside is wanting someone they can control. The prisoner gets out and wants freedom and the other one wants to be paid back (usually sexually) for all the money they spent. Most of the time they person on the outside (man or woman) is creepy or crazy and is why they have to resort to finding a inmate.

This guy didn't date his whole life cuz most women are too superficial so he goes after Gypsy in prison bc of her infamous "star-like" reputation and her dependency. He thought if he could keep a girl long enough for her to get to know him personally, they wouldn't judge his looks and obesity... Don't think for 1 second Gypsy wasn't manipulating him that entire time in prison, emotionally and sxully. They've only been verbally and emotionally intimate over the phone for years of course the first thing he's going to want when she gets out is actual touch contact and I guarantee she gave him the impression she did too

The fact that the men who wrote to her, saw the story and pictures of a young and small severely abused girl who had to fight for her life, and decided they wanted a romantic/sexual relationship with her is CRAZY and I never really thought about that. I had red flags waiving the size of a goddamn parachute when I found out he was a special Ed teacher. I’m a special Ed teacher and we KNOW about emotional and intellectual stunting from trauma and abuse and the fact that he would enter into a relationship with a person of her background without her having INTENSIVE therapy and a whole hell of a lot of time to figure out who she is is just so suspect. I 100% agree, Ryan bringing her hooker boots instead of proper shoes tells you everything you need to know. The men who wrote Gypsy while she was in prison have serious issues. However, wasn't Ken in some kind of charity that reaches out to prisoners and that's how they originally met? And then a relationship developed from there, I heard that somewhere. I know that Gypsy's family and Ken's family have a relationship and Gypsy still spoke to Ken's mom and Ken still spoke to Christy. Gypsy's dad and Christy don't seem to like Ryan so maybe they wanted Gypsy to get back with Ken. Ryan is such a creep, he makes my skin crawl. Even in his reaction videos and interviews, he LOVES the attention, he thinks he's famous too. He totally sought out a prisoner because they're easier to control. And then he showed his fridge to dispute the "food hoarder" claims and admits he's had the gastric bypass a while ago, yet still weighs 400+ pounds, which proves he has issues with food, thus could easily be a food hoarder. Ryan has sooooo many issues, he should not be a special education teacher, especially since he seeks out women who are abused and look like children.

Interesting if true about Ken. I was thinking about the fact that I wouldn’t put down everyone who writes to prisoners- lots of well intentioned folks doing work with charitable orgs- a favorite independent bookstore I frequent does a books for folks in prison thing and I think they’ve done things to pair people up as pen pals. Similarly, I’m in recovery and the only way folks get access to things like AA or NA is fellow recovering folks bringing the meetings to them and doing outreach work. I know some incredible folks in the recovery world doing the best they can with their own second chance at life to give a hand up to others (one woman I’m thinking of got her first college degree behind bars and is in a doctoral program right now with the intention of helping other women like her). All that said though- these sorts of efforts do usually keep things same gendered and while I’m queer myself and realize it’s not always that simple, let’s be real about the fact a majority of folks writing to prisoners are looking for love or especially with high profile cases… I’m sure that brings in a lot of mail from the craziest of crazies… Ryan wrote her on a freaking dare? But it was his idea, no? Trying to one up the person writing to one of Tiger King people. Yeeeeah. That already says something. And god help the poor students in his class. I can’t imagine he’ll have a teaching job much longer if he still does and I hope to heck he never gets hired anywhere again (though between the fact he’s a special Ed teacher and the overall teacher shortage… ugh.) this is not someone you want around kids. Especially even more vulnerable disabled ones. Sooo gross when you factor in who Gypsy is and all. Makes me sick. 🤢

I’m actually worried that he’s worse than an incel and that he’s possibly a predator. Like a few people have mentioned in these comments, as a special ed teacher, he should understand the stunting that can occur after severe abuse. He shouldn’t have gone for her with that knowledge unless he’s trying to be a predator. The photos of Gypsy he saw online before the new ones came out a couple years ago tops, likely look a lot like his students with her in the wheelchair, missing teeth, etc.

Men who seek relationships with incarcerated women are looking for someone they have extreme control over. Source: i spent 2 years in prison for drug possession when i was struggling with substance use disorder. Also, getting out of prison is overwhelming and panic inducing enough without having to deal with a husband you've never been with, a camera crew, and internet celebrity status. When I got out inhad a panic attack because i had to choose from so many different deodorant choices...the grocery store was over stimulating and i completely shut down. I didnt want to be touched, i DEFINITELY didnt want to be smothered by an overbearing incel, and having a camera in my all those very personal, very scary moments probably would've pushed me to literally running away.

He doesn't seem to care about who she is as a person, but more as like a stuffy won from the claw machine after so many failed tries, and then flaunting it for an ego boost. I think people who reach out to infamous people in prison are weirdos and looking for attention. I think he couldn't also find a girl in real life, so some people take that route because they know people in prison will give them attention being that they're in a desperate situation. But when they get out, they will get dumped because that person now has options.

I’m so glad more people are talking about this! I saw his TikTok page and so many people are in huge support of him! I see a ton of women in the comments hitting on him! It’s so alarming! I also see a lot of comments saying “good for you for getting away before you were her next victim” or “you were used, you dodged a bullet!” It’s also so interesting how many people were supportive of Gypsy but a lot of people have changed to not being supportive of her at all. I can imagine how hard it would be for the first time in your 30’s to have a normal life and all your choices being criticized by people all across the world. As someone who works in the mental health field, it’s very concerning that he would seek out someone in such a vulnerable situation. Like Gypsy has so much trauma and a situation unlike many and it’s just concerning that you would purposely seek out a relationship with someone who has hadn’t a chance of a normal life.

My best friend was dating a man in jail and during their video calls one of his friends would always come up and finally his friend kind of asked if she knew anyone that was looking for a nice guy, and she started talking to me about him and really hyping him up, but didn’t tell me the situation. He was in for a drug charge so nothing too crazy. At first I told her she was nuts and I was not interested and then after a couple weeks finally and figured why not just write. After a couple phone calls and a video visit it was over… It immediately became romantic thing that most people don’t take into consideration is the absolute manipulation that kind of goes on in this dynamic both ways people who seek out relationships in prison are usually more controlling and insecure because they feel that they are less likely to get cheated on and they always know where their partner is. On the other end these prisoners have nothing but time they will joint write these love letters with a bunch of other people who literally love bomb you. They have nothing else going on, so all that attention that would be on every day, things is on you and it is flattering and it is overwhelmingand very easy to get swept up in. Turns out he was crazy which I imagine is pretty common lol I definitely don’t recommend it and it is something I would never get into again but yeah I guess I just trauma dumped that story just to say that something is definitely off.

Yea, the way he was in her face doing step by step of how she needs to take care of a dog would make me want to leave because she isn’t a child. A child over age 5 knows what it takes to take care of a dog. I think it also speaks volumes that he works with disabled children, and went after someone who was only seen as a very sick, disabled child until after she left prison. Like it seems like she was seen as a legal version of what he really wants. 🤮

Why was the stepmother still in contact with Ken he and Gypsy split up years before so what reason would the stepmom have to continue communication. Her behaviour was very weird the way she couldn't even get up from the sofa to greet Gypsy when seeing her free for the first time, i can't work the stepmom out she's very strange.

You know what would “put her in the mood” way faster than spraying yourself with cologne, sir? Take her through her favorite drive thru, take her to Target, let her pick out a couple of outfits so she has some clothes, some toiletries of her choice and any other random stuff she might need - brush, hair ties, etc. Then you are going to take her to the grocery section and let her pick out some stuff that looks good to her. You then are going to ask her if there is anything else she needs or wants to help her be more comfortable during the transition. You are then going to be open but not pushy and let set the speed for how quickly she is ready to be intimate after facing such a huge shock to the system and undergoing so much trauma. But I assure you, sir, that putting her needs and worries and anxieties first and help her take care of those as much as possible will get you so much further than your nasty cologne.
