Very much wondering why no "setting" burs, I thought they were the exact shape of the solitaire shape in round calibrated stones (machine made CZs). I have never seen this way of opening up a stone setting by eye. Fantastic, love to learn the new stuff! Can't wait for the whole course! Wonderful!

Yes doing the City and Guilds as a school leaver going into the trade is the only way to get proper training unless you happen to have £6000 Upwards to spend per year plus materials and living expenses which makes it pretty much impossible. But I have managed to learn a great deal from Soham and a couple of other people, which I wouldn't have had access to, were it not for KZbin. I am really grateful for all the hours of tuition Soham has put in. He's a great teacher and I will be indebted to him always. I want to be able to make jewellery from beginning to end and I think the more I learn on here, then take the information and practice until I am happy with the end result, the closer I am to achieving this.

This was a very informative video. I was impressed as to how he set the stones, springing them into the holes after cutting the groove to latch them in. Very good, and good work all the way. Thanks much.

Great video Peter, I like the way you make the flush setting. The way I was taught is not working very well. On the beading tool how much of a point is there. I have made burnishers from worn out burs. Thanks Peter for sharing this video.

Can you burnish set a small diamond low cabochon? I know the brilliant cut stones have a flat top and the cabs have the higher walls but was just wondering if it’s possible. I only do bezel settings now but I like the look of the burnish setting but all I have are these low cut cabs to work with and i would like to flush set them.

Soham - is Peter using petroleum jelly on his burrs? I am so glad you two are so close that he has agreed that you provide these two videos. That is very kind of your mentor and shows me how much he thinks of you (if at all possible, I think even more of you!).

Peter Keep might not be aware of any questions posted to this video...I'm wondering what sort of magnification y'all use for setting teeny stones like this? I have a 3X and 7 or 8x [I forget?!] Optivisor. No microscope or anything. Any other ergonomic tips?

Please loose the disruptive, irritating, and annoying background music. It's a pity to spoil otherwise such a good instructional video. No background music in schools, universities, etc. for a very good reason.
@BrokenRRT

Kitten Mom - if that low volume music distracted you while learning this for FREE from a master tradesman then you will not be able to do this ever! I went to school to be a practitioner and every class I went was way more disruptive than some low volume background music. In class and while doing clinical in a hospital it was chaos everywhere and we were able to still learn our trade. If you're dedicated and interested there isn't anything other than physical contact that should disrupt you in learning from this video! Get your panties out of a bunch and appreciate what's being taught instead of focusing on the nonsense!
