Great razor ( Canadian startup), i use always plate 3 for my regular shave and 4 or 5 for longer beard. Now Vie-Long i have 7 different models, with hair horse brush you paint your face, ( but i know you have experience with that ) I really appreciate this kind of brush. Gotta love the Rockwell 6s! 3 is my daily go-to and does for three passes and touch-up's. 4 is good for a quick three pass and out. I find the Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow and Black is superb in the Rockwell on 3.

Hi Ken, from my observations - Voskhod is working better with more agressive razors. I think it's very forgiving blade and in a some way mild too. The second shave with Voskhod is the sweetest spot for me ;) Have a nice day!

I use my Rockwell 6S with the 3 head and Personna US made blades for both passes daily. Works beautifully without nicks. However, I tried the Rockwell blades that came with the razor, with the 3 head, and it didn't cut well and I got a bunch of nicks. You are right that all the factors between soap, blade and head can make a big difference.

Love this guy. Good tips and products. I am 20yrs old have been wet shaving since 18 yrs old and I love it. cheap blades and so many things to try out and finding the best match is fun too. Old school is the way to go. Just found my best blade match today the perma sharp but rapira works great to . Merkur is my favorite brand razor and gillette old school style of razors to but a little hard to find in Kansas but that's the fun part.

Nice shave, Ken. 💈 I'd describe your lather as dry, not thin. There's plenty of soap on your skin, you just don't spend a half hour building a lather like Kevy or Cris. I don't take a lot of time building a lather, either. Have a good night.

Nailed it. Probably my favorite razor so far the 6S. I use it with a Feather blade normally on plate 3 also. Have you treated yourself to Rex Ambassador yet Ken? That's a beast and counter intuitive to use. Very acute angle you have to deploy I find. All the best Ken.

So the blade and setting combo may cause a difference with your shaves on an adjustable? Would you have probably had a different shave experience on setting 3 with say a Gillette razor, Wilkinson Sword or Feather blade and that same number 3 setting? That's very interesting as I would've thought the blade and number setting would've had the same effect with all blades.

Nice shave. I like the idea of an adjustable razor. Plan on getting one. But it'll likely be one the twist to adjust types. For me, having to swap out heads seems a bit of a hassle if you end up doing fairly frequent adjustments. Enjoyed the den tour the other day. Nice set up.

About how long/how many uses did it take for the horsehair to lose its scent for you? I don’t mind too much, I grew up with my neighbor bringing horses home in trailers sometimes and making his own saddles (he competed in rodeos/roping contests) and having a cow pasture behind our backyard (and feeding the cows occasionally), so it brings back memories. But I’m curious nonetheless.

Do shaving soaps expire ? Do you have any soaps which have expired but still works the same ? I recently got my first shaving soap. Its a barber shop scented soft soap. Its got an expiry date in 2022. So I was just asking, should I plan to use it up before that date ? I use alum all the time. The sharpness of the blade is really important to me for a good shave.

Great video as always. I am new to de shaving and i have a question about my boar brush. I shave almost daily and i do just one pass. Most of the time i use a small amount of cream and when i lather it seems i have a lot of lather for two passes. In case i missed a spot and want to make a second pass the lather seems to have disappeared from my boar brush. Its a new brush i washed it once and made three shaves with it. I dont have the same problem with a badger brush i have. Is that happening because its a new brush? Or is it something else. Anyone that can help is welcomed to answer. Thanks.

Boar brushes take a long time to break in. Maybe 10+ shaved minimum

Horse is the most delicate and highest maintenance. Light and minimal swirling, mainly light brush strokes. I use a bowl to lather for the horse (soup cup). Feed it water as the horse is thirsty but doesn’t hold much water. I have a silvertip Badger and it is forgiving and holds heaps if water (best to use for face lathering). I don’t have a synthetic.
