They are Seán McKenna, Andrew Hendy and Charles Hendy from Dundalk in County Louth and they are the "Mary Wallopers" (named after a boat we are told). Their combined love and passion is for Irish Ballads and songs and between them they have so many songs that they can easily sing trough a whole night! This is what they say about themselves: "We play ballads till our heads hurt and then we go at it again..." Now we put together the wee selection of songs they sang for us on the first of January of this year (after a long night singing in our local pub):
Love Will Never Never Conquer Me
All For Me Grog
Codliver Oil and Orange Juice
Whack Fol De Diddle and
the famous song "Cod Liver Oil"
Enjoy this fantastic session for Gypsy Wagon TV and watch out for their forthcoming CD to be released soon!

Here on Gypsy Wagon TV in the hills of Donegal we are proud to be able to promote wonderful musicians, showcase talents, give them a stage on this tiny platform.
Often musicians look for special venues, a niche platform and this is what this tiny Vardo offers. It has a beautiful natural acoustic and music or showcase recordings are done low tech with no need for mics and amplifiers. This creates a natural sound and even if we record outside the wagon the acoustic carries strong and blends in with the natural surroundings of a woodland.
So if you as a folk or trad musician (not just Irish traditional music, which surrounds us here, but also world music, Bluegrass, you name it) and are looking for a small, but special venue, please feel free to contact us! You find Gypsy Wagon TV also on Facebook and Twitter.
It is a joy for us to connect with all these very different musicians with different backgrounds.
PS: When we first met the Mary Wallopers, they were "just" 3 lads from Dundalk in Ireland. Great musicians and fantastic characters. Since then they appeared first in the Tommy Tiernan Show and the Late Late Show and sure, they have made a name for themselves. They deserve it. But they have promised to come back to Donegal to play in the Glen Tavern, the local pub around the corner, and also on this venue again. Will they come back? It would be wonderful. We keep you updated!
