thank you for the video, I have used multiple third party controllers with gyro support on the past and most of them won't register small movements, making micro adjustments on the aim impossible, are these movements good on the armor x pro? how precise is it?

small movements are possible depending on your settings. However fast movements are not picked up because the armor can only use what is avaiable and that is the right stick. It uses this right stick for the gyro as the video states. right stick can not pick up on how fast you flick the stick. It only picks up on the distance that the stick travels like thegeekster states in the video. The gyro is as good as the ingame aim mechanics are. So if those are sh**t then the gyro is also not very good. Some games on switch use more of a mouse like aim for their gyro, the armor x can use native gyro on switch aswell as the gyro setting of the armor x pro. Also compared to the nexus this device does allow for passthrough on pc, so this means whe can use mouse for the gyro on pc unlike xim nexus.

@@caleasthetic thanks a lot for your response, I thought it could pick fast movements since I mapped the gyro to the right stick (not mouse) on steam with my nintendo pro controller, I just in the options had to ramp up the curve response to the maximum amount making almost an upside L shape on the graph and it works like a mouse through the right stick, it's almost as good as mapping it directly to the mouse, but with this any game is supported, since there are games that need you to manually switch between mouse and controller options and won't change automatically

The device is awesome and out of the box the gyro works well. On xbox I played fallout 3 and red dead redemption (360 title) with gyro. Even gives me gyro for Ocarina of time running on a N64 emulator.

You should try it in switch mode with the ship of harkinian pc port of ocarina. It gives you native gyro aiming. But if you're using real n64 stick range, I assume it still feels pretty good. N64 sticks had crap quality, but were great for precision.

I always wonder if with controllers like these, it'd be possible when in the console mode to enable the gyro as a mouse input instead. A few games on console with mnk support also are mixed input, Alien fireteam elite, state of decay 2, warframe, deep rock galactic etc. We'd be able to use mouse sliders for sensitivity too. I tried warframe with a controller in my left hand and mouse in the right on Xbox before, worked well. Although this seems pretty good for what it is, but definitely "diet gyro" as you'd call it. Probably better than a fair few switch games though...

@@tekgeekster I actually did the same exact thing with XIM Nexus, one of the guys who did gameplay videos for it before it was sent out to to way more people said he'd pass the idea onto the team That was a year ago now? Don't think they'd care to implement it or maybe there's just a weird conflict between how gyroscopes work on consoles vs pcs. But I don't think so if it works just fine on PC where even the joycons can send the data just fine, but could be a quirk with consoles.

@@tekgeekster I think I kinda heard about that. I swear I remember hearing about that in regards to XIM Nexus where the devs are kinda rood and ignored some ideas people had? Can't remember what it was and who's video it was. If that's the case though it's kinda a bit dumb, that tech on console is still a big win, especially for countless old games that will never get an update to implement gyro support. I'd kill for that feature still for games that are old if the the translation software was good enough (trying to get steam gyro joystick to feel good is a huge hassle) I'd love it for old games like Re5/7 on xbox, maybe Metro Last Light, Gears of War 3, etc. It really wouldn't undermine any of their features, not even 5% of current xbox one Games support mouse, let alone mixed input. Only a very small select few do. If anything it adds way more value rather to their product. Hopefully we will see a product do it one day, if one does, I'll be dropping that dough in a heartbeat.

@@tekgeekster good to know that for future reference in case, I wonder what Deadzones Gears of war uses since Gears 2, 3 and Judgment would be the ones I'd play on xbox (they all lack pc ports sadly, Gears 1 plays like a dream on pc tho). I went from Gears of war on pc with gyro to an analog stick with a untweakable deadzone and man it felt rough, Gears 4 and 5 however let's u change the deadzone and the aiming is touched up to be really responsive and reactive for a stick, so much so aim assist wouldn't be needed (although it helps)

@@CandarianGaming PS5 doesn't support Xbox controllers natively. But Armor X Pro comes with a dongle, you plug it into PS5 and you also need to connect DualShock 4 to the dongle to make Xbox controller work on PS5. And it will only work with PS4 games this way. I know, it sounds a bit complicated, but if you already have all the tech, then it's working great.

I'll admit, I haven't felt the need to use the gyrocon mode it has in a while since using it natively on pc feels too good. 😬 Also, I accidentally lost a lot of them. My advice is to try making the acceleration the opposite of what the game is/feels like. Also, having lower sensor sensitivity gives you a wider range of motion if you set your deadzones correctly. It'll make smaller movements easier, but it's safe to start at around 50-60. For cod, I just set it to 0 and cranked the in game stick sensitivity. Maximizing the sensitivity in game is usually a good idea.

I'm back once again. I've recently picked up a steam deck and it has pretty great gryo even for a novice, because of the size of the screen and the gyro settings you don't lose vision on the screen due to rotating like the switch. The steam deck always dose something neat that helps with resting. Gryo only works if your thumb is on the thumbstick. This means instead of a button you can quickly reset by removing your thumb and quickly bringing it back. Once you get the flow of it I feel as if it would be super intuitive and help alot of pepole get into gyro. The desk job game for sd has some pretty smooth gyro but things like lfd2 and others need slight tweeking of sensitivity to be on point. Whille I still dislike the jiggles of gryo when not aiming I'll most likely keep the setting on instead of changing it back like fornite

I'm thinking about picking up a steam deck myself. I'm kind of fed up with my Nintendo switch. Lol I know the touch to activate Gyro is an option and has been for some time with other controllers, especially with the steam controller. But for games where I'm actively aiming constantly I tend to leave that option alone and just have gyro always on. that way I won't get caught off guard and having to switch between aiming and doing actions because then it basically just becomes a glorified joystick in a sense. You can't aim and press buttons at the same time.

@@tekgeekster that is true, I didn't really think about that but, the steam deck dose have buttons on the back if your hands are comfortable using them. (And their might be a way to make it the left thumbstick I haven't looked into it) So if you need jumps or anything they are usable whille in gyro. They also have the quick turn feature. Some of the default settings are dumb. In lfd2 most of your gear swapin is done on the left touch pad. It's a cube and you can click on the different area of the touch pad to switch. But for some reason they made it on the left touch pad rather then the right so you have to stop moving to do so. Whille right TouchPad is aiming. Who aims with TouchPad lol

The two + years I've been playing with gyro on pc I have a process for how I do configs. Back buttons are for their own actions usually, and face buttons depending on the game are either traditional binds or binds I less frequently use if I plan to be stick bound a lot. Sometimes I'll mix it up.

So you know I own a steam controller and the gyro is flawless have you had the chance to try it out? the response on the millimeter level is perfect and i expected to find this in the big big won xpro but nope the default deadzone is so bad when sniping it takes me out of the experience I hope you can relate. do not plug it into the dongle. Never do that. Either plug it directly into the PC or console, or unplug it and use the dongle wirelessly. Hold Home+Y for ps4 mode (it'll turn blue) and apps like steam, rewasd and jsm can directly access the gyroscope and buttons without needing to press the gyro button on the back

Ok sorry for the late reply. The instructions you gave me worked on my xb seriesss(coughs blood and feels testosterone go low) exactly as you said the cable goes into a free usb port never into the donglee also man the setting you describe in the video are on point it is amazing and i went a bit further lets see what you think. I'm testing all these in apex legends and allows for tons of tuning the aim lest start by saying that the gold is in the hidden setting which i overlooked for almost a year: the stick deadzone setting under the tab sticks, this i set to 10% (you say 5 but 10 works for me) and it's awesome it eliminates the craziness of the gyro when fine tunning it and it also enables for very fine adjustments, now comes the experimental part I set the deadzone compensation to max, yes to max and the response curve to 40 ultra responsive also the sensor sensitivity to zero as you said and the in game settings 0 deadzone but also aim sensitivity to zero, it works magic the reticle is so precise I can draw the silhouette of an enemy while sniping it's crazy the only downside is the very low sensitivity but for me it's an awesome tradeoff, as my stick precision really sucks and never ever improved. thanks for your response and tips I can assure you you're the ambassador of gyro now I feel I'm gaming in the future every time iplay I enjoy it instead of getting anxious nervous and frustrated sometimes even hyperventilated keep up cheers!

I'm curious how this compares to the relatively new and inexpensive "RetroFlag SuperPack" (if you've used it), if someone had neither, is the Armor X Pro worth the extra cash? ($30 vs. $70)

I've seen it. From what I remember, it has paddles on the top of the strike pack instead of the back and I'm personally not crazy about that. Another thing is that it doesn't have a ps4 mode like the AXP, so it's polling rate is probably only 60hz vs 120. The axp outclasses it in everything except being fully wireless since it needs Its own usb dongle in order to work, but that kinda works in its favor right now.

@@tekgeekster Didn't expect a quick reply (at 3am no less) so that's nice. The paddles are certainly in a weird place, kinda reminds me of the OG Wii classic controller and it's strange ZL/ZR nubs. I was fine without having a PS4 mode since I barely use the thing, but hadn't even considered it having a worse polling rate, though I guess that makes sense given the price point. Honestly, the thing that concerned me the most about the RetroFlag was the "up to 8 hour" battery life, which in my experience means >6 hours. I suppose ultimately, the Armor X Pro is worth the extra 40 bones then (Seems I'm gonna have to pinch some pennies if I want to show everyone on Halo: Infinite what 1000hrs of Splatoon does to a MFer)

What's the polling rate of this? Is it possible to make your controller recognize as dual shock 4 on pc with this so that you can use it with DS4Windows.

It runs at 250hz, and has a native ps4 mode that gives direct access to the gyroscope. The face buttons also act as 4 quadrants of the ds4 touchpad, so they can be mapped to anything. Steam also has support for this, but I think the big picture update broke something, so I'd check that first instead of messing around with ds4windows.

Xim nexus doesn't have rumble tho which sucks. With this you get rumble with your gyro.

Not always a good thing in my experience. Rumble can dramatically disrupt your aim. If possible, lower vibration intensity. BUT, at least the option for it is there.

Nope. It doesn't support ps5 at all. Only ps4. But it does support ps4 on ps5.

I bought this and then canceled my order. I don't want emulation of joystick gyro, I want simultaneous input where it's mouse gyro using joystick input. Ended up buying a dualsense edge for 170 so we will see how that turns out. Only thing that irks me about the edge is that it only has 2 back paddles. I at least want 4

Last time I tried it (post controller ban) it still seemed to work. I think that's because it's piggybacking the credentials from the controller since it plugs directly into it. But they still might have caught onto that since then. I don't play on xbox so I wouldn't know.

You don't need to tweak it for each game. Out of the box the gyro will imitate the sensitivity setting of your right stick, regardless of what game you play

Native gyro on pc only works in switch and ps4 mode (you don't need a ps4 controller connected to the dongle when playing on pc) and with software like input mappers and emulators/games running SDL2 API. For PS4 mode, hold Home+Y for 5 seconds until the light on the Armor X Pro turns blue. For Switch mode, hold Home+A until the light turns red. To return to Xbox mode, hold Home+X For fps games I recommend ps4 mode. Its gyro has a higher refresh rate than the switch mode and feels smoother as well as having less latency. Also steam now supports it natively as of the recent update, so you can map the gyroscope to mouse, and the m1-4 buttons behave as a simulated ps4 touchpad. Switch mode is better for emulators like cemu, yuzu and citra, and that's about it.

Hope that helps. Btw, don't turn on the gyrocon mode when using native gyro in games. It screws with your sensitivity. You don't need to turn it on for the gyro to work in ps4 and switch modes. But the gyrocon function is still useful in some cases. I used it in shadow of war because it won't let you use controller and mouse at the same time. Or playing old console shooters on a ps2 or xbox emulator that doesn't natively support gyro.

Oh yeah. Re4 is a hassle, but don't use the gyrocon mode. Just use steam input. There are community configs that toggle between controller and keyboard/mouse inputs that still feels somewhat seamless. Try those.

I do not believe Microsoft is slow on the uptake for Gyro/Motion aim. I believe they are still in PTSD mode after fucking up with the Kinect, many "hardcore" gamers still think motion aim is the Wiimote and Kinect so if Microsoft added gyro to Xbox, I can imagine the "outrage" it would cause.
