To be fair, it's really only the notation used in this video (usually associated with anime fighters, Guiltu gear, melty blood, blazblue etc) most other fighting game notation actually looks pretty readable lmao

It’s because numpad notation (writing movement directions with numbers) is fucking awful and useless. It comes from a bygone era of the fgc where forums were the only way to talk about this stuff and it was a pain in the ass to copy paste inputs and this was the bandaid fix. The problem is QCF is literally the same number of letters, is less complicated at a glance and is universal depending on the side you’re doing them on. And even then it’s so much easier to make videos and just post the buttons like every fighting game does. It’s really just a thing the fgc always does, which is clinging to dumb ideas that were stupid then like the boomers they are.

you can actually optimize the 2nd combo jH 5M 2H 236L >> 5L 2H >> 5M 2M 5H S jH 5M 5H 5LMH 214H HHA (or GHA instead of 214H>HHA)

For some reason I couldn't for the life of me do the second combo myself. For some reason, either cause I'm bad or what, I can't combo 5M into 2H. But after being in the lab I found that changing the first 5M to 5L and the 2M to 5M I was able to do the combo consistently. Edit: Just found out that your combos do work very well, but on some characters they don't work the same.

For the 3rd combo, you can maximize the damage by using the otoishi assist as you switch to valkyrie to hit em with a 3 bar GHA

1:23 Can someone explain those texts at the bottom? Like i get l m and H is for low middle and hard but what are the other ones like 233L???(for example)

You have to read the numbers as if they were put on a numpad, and each number means a direction Try viewing them in this way 7 8 9 4 5 6 1 2 3 For example, 236 mean you have to press your movement keys as if they were the numbers 2, 3 and 6, so it means you have to start from the bottom and move it to the right I don't know if I were clear enough since my english sucks but I hope I did explain in a good way

I feel like the first one doesn't work after the newest patch? No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get a confirmed horse 5M after the J.H anymore, and most of the time during the switch to horse right before J.H they don't even get bounced off it. Before the Weather Report/Final Pucci patch I could do it. I know they slightly buffed Gyro in the notes, giving him a bit more range on some normals, but could it mess up the combo as well? I assume it's just some frames being different and throwing me off because I'm bad, but still

Hey, reaching out for some help here, I've been learning this steadily but for some reason the 15th hit on the first combo in the vid never registers and just has them fall to the ground, any ideas on what I may be missing, timing, distance, anything? Any help would be appreciated thank you

I believe it was because earlier in the combo once you started juggling I mistakenly used a medium attack rather than the light one which I think maxed out the combo so it didn't register any more connections. Medium and light attack look kinda similar when you see then so fast.

You usually just have to time it well for it to hit sometimes. After 5M just wait a little bit and then hit 5H.

It's numpad, numbers are direction on pad / joystick : 7 8 9 4 5 6 1 2 3 Letters are for Light Medium Heavey Special etc. buttons on your controller

The number refers to the number pad on keyboard so in this instance 2H is Down Heavy. And 236L is Quarter circle forward Light. If that makes any sense.

Ok so in simple terms the numbers refer to directions like youd see on a keyboard numpad 5 is standing still, 2 is crouching etc the letters refer to your attack buttons L is light, m is medium and h is heavy S is your stand/horse button.
