A week later, and just before the grass gets too long, I'm back to the farmer's field in the gyro so we can 'compare and contrast'. It's a lot easier in the gyro! #gyrocopteruk #gyrocopter #gyroplane #autogyro #stuwithaview

Nice work! Turbulences in gyros are mostly calm. Thats, why I love them (and my passengers) 😁

I noticed approach is a bit yacky, this is why I fly from uncontrolled airports with my fling wing and other than announce when joining the pattern or leaving my airport, the silence is nice. 😊

neat and crisp touchdown there Stu, should be in the brochure for gyro's, a very neat and short landing, meaning if you loose power or get into trouble you could park it down almost anywhere as long as its not the Lion's enclosure in a wildlife park 😉

Thanks Chris 😊

Looks like a fun flight in perfect weather conditions...

Perfect for a gyro; much more turbulent in the fixed wing the week before in similar weather.

@@StuWithAView I hear you... last weekend I had 40 knot tail wind through a mountain pass, and I was making close to 120 knots ground speed... On my return trip I was doing 25 knots ground speed... with some nasty turbulence at the exit of the pass. Fixed wing would have been in trouble.

I’ve had headwinds that cause my ground speed to be matched by cyclists. And as you say, mountain passes are the most turbulent, even in a gyro; fixed wing in those situations would be seriously uncomfortable, at best.

That looked a lot easier than the approach in the Eurofox Stu, albeit it appeared very turbulent the day you filmed in the Eurofox. As usual Liverpool ATC are friendly, helpful and obliging as they were for me a few weeks back heading to Caernarfon with zone transits.

It wasn’t a particularly turbulent day; that’s just typical Eurofox bumpiness. But yes, definitely easier and more comfortable in the gyro. And as you say, Liverpool ATC are the best - my landing site is directly beneath the 09 approach path.

Nice landing. Been watching your videos and subscribed for a while now. I live in north wales do you have any recommendations were i could go to get a introductory flight in a gyro?

Thanks. Your best bet might be Sleap in Shropshire or Gyrocopter Experience at Caernarfon.

Great video Stu. I love the way you've edited in the the various camera angles and I appreciate just how time consuming this is. I've done some videos with my Quik a few years ago and after that I decided to just take stills in flight due to the amount of work involved with the videos. What was the take off like from this field in the gyro with the long grass? Does the 912s has enough oomph for the shorter field take offs or do you find yourself lusting after a 914 engine instead?

Thanks Ian; appreciated. The editing takes way longer than the flying 😊. The take-off was fine; I might upload the video soon. I pre rotate to max, around 270 rpm in my gyro, and only fly out 1-up with half tanks. I’ve never felt the need for the 914, personally; although if I regularly flew 2-up at higher density altitudes then I might think differently. I like the simplicity and low-stressed nature of the 912s.
