Gyumri’s Tourism Boom or Bust

Gyumri was widely expected to see a tourism boom in 2020, but due to the pandemic and the Second Karabakh War, those hopes were dashed. Despite this, many businesses are starting to pick up once again. CivilNet’s team travelled to Gyumri to find out what challenges the tourism sector is facing.

When you look at the drone footage of Gyumri at 4:24 you realize these beautiful buildings all have low-quality and ugly roofs. They look like makeshift roofs, and yet they're permanent. They need to be replaced in order to beautify the city.

Very interesting city historically and culturally. Must visit!!! I’ve been in Armenia, but it’s a loss that didn’t visit Gyumri. Good job Armenians , support and rebuild your cities!!! So haters will die from envy even more. 🌟🇦🇲✝️🇦🇲🌟

This is a crime that the past Armenian governments ignored Gyumri. After the earthquake Armenia should have taken the approach of rebuilding the city and asked diaspora for help. A major shame. Now the city is slowing growing and it deserves to shine. Remember this city was taken by the Turks and Armenia fought to gain it back! Yerevan is not the only city in Armenia and shame on any Armenian official who thinks like that.

@@regthegg2292 heavens, people are on holiday, I don't expect to understand everything, that's why I go on holiday. If people want English names for cafe, then go to England or USA. It also looks naff and lacking in self belief and generic.

Agreed. Every city in the world has these generic gentrified cafes with names like "The Cafe"
