Ian is always capable to be critical on surface but to convince the audience that bad is good. So what is the alternative to democracy which means 'by the people?' I think we can agree that the candidates presented to us are generally tainted but it is hard to argue that this is a fault of democracy. Our issue is one of who controls who we get to vote for which is an issue of marketing and $$ required to put someone behind a podium and to market and broadcast that choice. The barrier to entry at higher levels of government invite corruption and special interests. My question though is what system avoids this? Historically there are rulers by birth, rulers ordained by god, rulers by force, and rulers by the people which includes tribal leaders, etc.
