on those teeth of jaws the cheap harbor freight diamond coated needle files will make them new again. Nice job. Btw I finally got the bombay mahogony to work for me. I had to thin it out with mineral spirits, klean strip paint thinner and aslo kept dipping my wipe cloth in the spirits and then the polyshade to allow me to better coat without it starting to dry. This also allowed me to go over spots that were to thick without wrecking finish. Now this took many coats but after i was done and let it sit for a couple of weeks I was able to obtain the color and shine I was looking for. thanks for introducing me to that color polyshade.

Everyone should do a restoration to this standard at least once. Then you can decide how much time and effort to put into a restoration. Personally, for a user tool I would stop after the wire brush, rust remover, and lubrication with the tool being fully functional. later if you get a bee in your bonnet on a rainy day you can always go for the polish. Cheers from NC/USA

Once again, another excellent restoration video! I can't be the first to have suggested this, but have you considered adding compressed air to your tool collection? Specifically an abrasive blast cabinet and your choice of media, and pneumatic die grinders with Roloc polishing disks. When I see a rusted tool like you have hear, those are the two choices that I would use.
@357magdad7 күн бұрын
Thanks Matt! I have a small basement shop in a condo. Air compressor and a blast cabinet are not options.

Side note: Schrade produced switch blades, push button knives about 1910 through the '50s. But when young authoritarian Democrats passed switch blade bans in 1950, Schrade started the Old Timer series and sold their switch/push button knives to Böker.
