Yabusame (Japanese horseback archery) is also a must-see. The sight of horseback riders shooting at one target after another from horseback is a sight to behold.🎯
5:46 "Mongolian bows and arrows were more efficient." In 1271, during the Mongol Empire's invasion of Japan, the samurai "repulsed" the invaders with their bows, but many people don't know that.

Aiming at, or trying to hit the middle of, the target is not the true objective in Japanese Archery (Kyudo 弓道). It's a form of spiritual training, and not a kind of sports where you compete with opponents in attempting to achieve your goal. The process you have to go through before you get ready to release the arrow is very important. If you wish to see another style of Kyudo that is suitable for battle fields, see videos of horseback archery known here as Yabusame (流鏑馬), which is now also a form of Shinto ritual ceremony to be offered to God at big, prestigious shinto shurines in various parts of Japan.

Japanese long bow is the main weapon of samurai warriors, not Katana. You see the athletic use bow in the video but more powerful bows were used by samurais. The long arrows shot by this long bow shows its power and flies much far distance than Mongolian short bow and arrow. Long range weapon does not always need the quick shots, accuracy is the best. Japanese bow and arrow helped preventing Mongol invasion in Japan.
Hi Thank you for the interesting video today I don't think the action itself in this video was intended to be a weapon. However, there is no doubt that the bow and arrow were originally created as weapons. In my opinion, this uniqueness is somehow related to Japan. What I find common in all Japanese martial arts, not just Yumiya, is that using a weapon alone is not sufficient to maximize the effectiveness of an attack. The movements of the woman in the video may not yield immediate results, but I believe they are effective in training her mind. In other words, if her life is in danger, she may rely on her disciplined mental strength and composure to defeat her enemies and protect herself. After all, I have heard that there were female ninjas in Japan as well. If it's true that they pretend to be weak but are actually strong, Japanese women are formidable.😅
