I laughed when you mentioned the steel bristle brush is probably $50 because it has the HK logo on it. It’s probably true. Great video, lot of good information.

Only a Meth addict would spend $50 on an HK brush!😂😂 The MP5 clones from companies like MKE in Turkey are most as good as authentic arms with HK(😂)on them for 1/3rd or less the price.😂😂

Now that I’m shooting suppressed, I have learned just how dirty a weapon can get. You’re advice to wipe things down BEFORE using solvent was the single best piece of advice I have ever heard. Seriously. I can’t believe I never thought of this. It is spot on great advice. I just spent 5 hours cleaning weapons today and I used less solvent than ever before with much better results. Everyone needs to learn this. Wipe down first. Solvent later. KISS principle. Thank you.

Really good for me to look this up. I can clean my firearms more efficiently now. I already was cleaning magazines. I know that gets really really dirty. I love roller delay guns. I got started with a Cetme C in 308, bought a Malcomar Cetme L in 5.56, and now have my dream gun MP5K setup as the Mp5K-PDW. Wish it could be the full auto version like what my dad trained with in the army. He said said on full auto you can get all 15 rounds dead center of your target. He loved it but said it's drawback of 9mm is what made them go to having the M4 in the cockpit. in case of armored and/or drugged up enemies in the event of being shot down.

Thanks a lot for making this video, it is very informative and useful. As for magazine disassembly (56:05) - I am pretty sure you are supposed to depress the bottom plate through that hole for a couple centimeters and hold it there - this "unlocks" the two side tabs that you can then very easily depress and remove the floor plate without scratches or damage.
@teufelshundtactical
@teufelshundtactical 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I did show and describe the need to depress the baseplate support. Even with that done, the force is still needed to force in the two side tabs.
@aircobralt
@aircobralt 2 жыл бұрын
@@teufelshundtactical My point is you need to keep that plate depressed all the time while manipulating the tabs. I usually insert a short wooden dowel into the hole, then press the dowel+magazine down on the workbench. If you look closely through the tiny gaps between the tab window and the tab, you will see when the internal spring holding plate will have cleared the tabs. At that point a fingernail pressure is sufficient to depress the tab to get the floorplate removed. If you do not move the spring plate out of the way, you end up fighting not just those thin floorplate tabs, but a pretty chunky spring plate steel as well. My intention is not to challenge your knowledge and experience, my intention is just to add a little bit of clarification which I thought the video was missing. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, I have learned a lot thanks to you.

I'd never had one, stripped down a secondhand .22lr version that I got cheap due to misfires, to individual components, cleaned it, including the bolt carrier/barrel, adjusted the bolt spring for sub-sonics, reassembled it, and it works perfectly. All without a manual. Never saw one before, discovered H&K says I've voided the warranty for cleaning it properly, well duh, I'll clean it properly thanks, as it's mine and its outside the damn warranty anyway. Can't understand why stripping one of these is supposed to be so difficult, it's not, and every 500 to 1000 rounds I'll be stripping it down again properly to clean it. Tip: Makes sure you're in a clean environment to start with, in case you drop any components, AND use a Wooden Bench Vice to gently put the bolt carrier back together properly, as you really need three hands, I managed the first time with a bit of cursing, but I'll be using a vice next time. No, I'm not a gunsmith, just a Radio Amateur, and normally I prefer bolt and/or hammer actions, but I was in the TAVR about 30 years ago, so stripped FN SLR, SMG, and early SA-80s as a JNCO for personal weapon cleaning as Radio Relay Technician with the Royal Signals. Why does H&K consider people so stupid that they can't clean a weapon properly, and so store up problems to cause misfires? Absolute madness.

The MP5SD. It's a "trick of the trade" to run the SD when teaching classes, as you look like a better shooter that you are with another example.

I bought a brand new SP5, cleaned and oiled it, took it out and shot 500 rounds the first day. Got home and sprayed it down with solvent, what a mess. I will absolutely be following your instruction from here on out. I have to ask, is it normal to have a ton of tiny metal pieces all inside the gun? Im coming from handguns and ARs, ive never seen so many tiny metal pieces.

I've never seen "metal pieces", but depending on the type of ammo, you can see remnants that will sometimes look like yellow or brass colored flakes.

@@teufelshundtactical how often do you recommend cleaning? I typically shoot P320s and MK18s, I clean them every 1k rounds or so, adding a bit of oil before each range session. The mp5 seems much dirtier.

For the SD, what are the consequences if I just leave the suppressor permanently attached? The can isn’t serviceable anyways so what does it matter if it is carbon locked? I am considering buying one, but there is a 0% chance I am doing anything beyond lubrication between range sessions.
@teufelshundtactical
@teufelshundtactical 2 ай бұрын
If that is your mindset, then the SD is not for you. The SD, as my video illustrates requires a level of maintenance unlike other suppressed weapons. Not conducting this maintenance properly will cause your suppressor to seize to your barrel and then the only way to get it off will to be to cut through the receiver, suppressor and barrel.

@@paulbellamy196 They dry out the parts, removing all lubrication. Simply respraying lubrication won’t work if the weapon is not completely disassembled because it will both not get into the tight tolerance locations where lubrication is needed the most and also pool in low areas and serve to grab dirt and debris. It will also remove any painted on things like fire and safe markings. And it will make plastic and polymer items brittle and prone to breakage.

@@teufelshundtactical Thanks for the prompt response. My cleaner is small, so I use it on disassembled parts: putting the dry wiped down bolt carrier, bolt, locking piece, firing pin and spring in the ultrasonic, blowing them dry afterward then relubricating all surfaces inside and out.

300-500 is the recommendation for the SD. For an unsuppressed MP5 variant I would want to do a thorough cleaning every 2000 rounds. In the absence of that, at least wipe down and lube the bolt group and inside of the receiver quickly.
