👉Correction The ITD was initially established in the 80’s but came to its height in the 90’s. The division had seen leadership under Clint Smith, Phil Singleton, and finally John Meyer in the early 90s. Thanks again to James Williamson @teufeulshundtactical for the correction!

Dear Henry, it is absolutely beyond me why US-authorities ever thought you were a spy. You speak at least 6 languages, can sing 5 different national anthems and understand hundreds of idiomes of many cultures. You teach us about exotic weapons and collaborate with illustrious individuals all over the globe (e.g. your cousin). And best of all, you are an expert shooter on pretty much every light arm system on the planet. How could they ever took you for a foreign spy?..............................................Oh, wait🤔

Hello guys! Henry, you deserve as well as Ian the French FRF2 sniper badge. A few point on the MP5 with the Gendarmerie intervention (response) units: the first model of MP5 with the (pre 2007) GIGN was the SD, while the primary assault/CQB weapon was the MR 73 revolver; the K model was used first by the EPIGN (a unit that was included in the post 2007 GIGN as both Observation & Search and Security & Protection forces ) for close protection duties; then the A 3 became widely used for CQB. The PI2G were regional response units that became part of the "new" GIGN in 2021, but are not as the same level as the Force Intervention, a bit like if the regional FBI SWAT units (full time) were part of the HRT. Some MP 5 were bought for the Gendarmerie mobile branch with the special budget for the winter Olympics in 1992. Then it became a patrol weapon, especially popular for training with smaller gendarmes, to be followed by the HK UMP 9 and recently the G36 K for the PSIG "Sabre" fast response county units.

Hey Henry, have you thought about stretching the MP5's legs on the service rifle course? I'm sure it would probably max out before you'd get to 500, but it would be interesting to see just how far you could go with it. If you do ever try it, I think the solid stock with irons would be the coolest way. You could also try some of the older military SMG's on the service rifle course. Seeing as how they were issued among rifle squads, it would be a fitting test. Things like the MP-40's, Thompsons, M3's, maybe a Suomi or PPSH if you could swing it. There're plenty others, but those would probably be some of the easiest ones. No weird calibers like the French ones. I mean, those would be neat, but good luck finding reliable examples, and ammunition.

As am I… testing the Suomi (a la Winter War ski troops) or PPSh-41 (entire Soviet divisions armed primarily with it) or MP40 (Late war Wehrmacht troops having to take single shots, conserving ammo, in defensive roles) at longer ranges would give better historical context for the capability of these weapons. Maybe test not just well aimed shots but how quickly each can score multiple hits at 50-75m

I grew up in Los Angeles County during the 90’s living next door to a LAPD SWAT officer. At the time my friends and I were really into Airsoft and I had purchased an MP5A4 with the fixed stock. One day my friends and were loading up our gear when He spotted my replica and immediately came over for a closer look. He was blown away by how similar they looked and immediately opened his trunk and whipped out the real deal, an A5 with the flashlight grip. That was the first time I had ever held a real gun and it is one of those cool memories that I remember as a kid.

A couple of things I've gathered from my research for a game I've been developing for some time; specifically on the MP5-N (KAC) and Laser Products. Circa 1986, HK fulfilled the request for the Navy SEAL's upgrade requirements; Ambi selector and threaded barrel. Note that in the '80s there were no suppressors designed for the 3-lug as of yet. This suffices the threaded barrel in conjunction of KAC, which I'm sure was co-developed on behalf of HK. This also was likely co-developed with the HK P9S (context of the rarity of mainstream suppressed (.45acp/9mm) service pistols (not to be confused w/ integral .22lr pistols) For Laser Products, brings us a year earlier. In 1985, they've released under barrel weapon light products for the 1911, 92FS, 870, and of course the MP5. They would also later develop weapon lights for the p226 and Benelli M1 (LAPD request) by the late '80s. LAPD Metro SWAT (D-Platoon) was one of the earliest adopters. D-Platoon has been trained alongside Delta, HRT, SAS, GSG9, and GIGN, especially in preparation for the 1984 Olympics. Scotty Reitz (Uncle Scotty), writer of SWAT magazine and ex-LAPD SWAT, had put a special emphasis on 'clean mechanics'. Nutshell; natural 2nd nature usage of manual of arms, gear, and shooting techniques. This is later developed in mind of the LAPD's famous iconic 3a HRM Tactical Vest. Note the snap/Velcro modularity. Prior to this, SWAT had to sewn in pouches in Vietnam era pilot survival vest for their MP5s. In regards to the suppressor and weapon combo, there is a problem. Physically the light is in the way of the suppressor, so Laser Products to develop an attachment for the weapon to be redirected to a lower position if needed. What's interesting on laser Products weapon lights seen in late the '80s and early 90s films. Cliff Hanger, Arizona Heat (870), Last of the Finest, and American Yakuza 2.

Wonderful video as usual gentlemen. It is amazing how the US market has made the MP5 their own.

Meine Hochachtung, eine sehr gute Aussprache des Ü in "natürlich"! translation: My compliments and respect for the very good pronunciation of the Ü in "natürlich" I know how very hard german can be, especially when not born here and/or after some influence of well made beverages... actually the last thing also applies for people born in germany. Another actually: well actually we germans don´t even always understand each other when sober... well let´s test somebody from texas to speak/understand some one from... whaschington state/ohio...what else is far apart from eacht other? have a very very nice day / Einen Schönen Tag noch, wünsche ich! (first I´ve seen this video on Weapons and War!)
