As addressed by AIT again, the U.S. government upholds the One China policy regarding Taiwan and has only provided basic self-defense combat gear to Taiwan since the 1970s, continuing to do so today and possibly indefinitely. Typically, the poor Taiwan government can only acquire aged and obsolete combat gear (F-16 A/B block 20), which is over 30 years behind that of Israel, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore (F-16 C/D, F-15, F-35 A & B). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Opening Remarks by AIT Director Raymond F. Greene at the Press Conference, September 4, 2024 As AIT Director, my core responsibility is to faithfully implement our relationship with Taiwan, carrying out the values enshrined in the Taiwan Relations Act. As a pillar of our one China policy, the TRA, together with the Three Joint Communiques and Six Assurances.
