I sang about an hour and a half of Handel's, "Messiah" last year in the Mission Valley Choral Society here in the Northwest part of Montana. I had two solos. And sang tenor with the chorus, in everything else. It was a MASSIVE undertaking.

I’m singing this at a performance tonight; also a mezzo and if you sing that chest resonant heavy too early it’s just impossible to sing and still jump up to the high notes when needed. That’s just how a mezzo has to sing it.

I cannot find anything new from her :-( Her website is not updated since ca. 2 years, and it's so a pity, I would buy each and every recording of that art, it's the most beautiful performance of this aria I've ever heard. It would wish she makes recordings of all the famous oratorios :-) The Christmas Oratorio, the both Passions by Mr. Bach the Great, Eliah by Mendelssohn, etc. And some Bach Cantatas please. I do agree this is better sung by a contralto than a mezzo, but youve missed one thing which will trump a contralto, and which it was originally composed for - a countertenor!! Listen to james bowman or michael chance sing this, both are on KZbin I think
