Handel knew Corelli well from his years in Rome as a young man; Handel’s Opus 6 are not so much ‘…influenced by’ as modelled on Corelli’s Opus 6, and I think you’re partly right, that the *two* Opera 6 are the greatest sets of Baroque string concerti grossi of their type.

Es tut mir leid, aber mit einem Georg Friedrich Händel hat diese Aufführungspraxis mit vollkommen überzogenen Tempi nichts mehr zu tun. Es ist bekannt, dass schnelle Interpretationen modern sind, aber schön sind sie ebenso wenig, wie die Ausstellungsstücke auf der "Documenta" in Kassel. Ich bin sicher, dass Händel sich im Grabe umdrehen würde. Diese Aufnahme ist allerdings von 1983 (DDR) und insofern nicht mehr ganz modern. "dann ist man bei Karl Richters Aufnahmen richtig" - Dem würde ich auf jeden Fall zustimmen, zumindest was die Einspielung der Op.6-Concerti angeht. Bei den Op.3-Concerti fand ich tatsächlich die Einspielung von Max Pommer schöner. Ich habe dann, nachdem ich die Op.3-Concerti hochlud der Vollständigkeit halber noch die Op.6er mit Max Pommer hochgeladen. Aber vielen Dank für den Link zu Karl Richter.
