Andreas intègre la maîtrise des Kiedricher Chorbuben à l'âge de sept ans. Il est marié depuis août 2012 à la pianiste israélienne Tamar Halperin. De 1987 à 1993, il étudie à la Schola Cantorum de Bâle où il est l'élève de Richard Levitt, puis de René Jacobs, et où, de nos jours, il enseigne. En 1993, il donne son premier récital au théâtre Grévin, où il reçoit un accueil enthousiaste en remplaçant au pied levé René Jacobs. En 1998, il fait ses débuts à l'opéra au festival de Glyndebourne, en interprétant le rôle de Bertarido dans Rodelinda de Haendel, sous la direction de William Christie. Il interprète à nouveau ce rôle à Glyndebourne en 1999 et 2002, puis au Metropolitan Opera en 2011. En 2002 et 2005, il interprète le rôle-titre dans Giulio Cesare in Egitto de Haendel. Sa voix le dirige naturellement vers la musique baroque. Il chante sous la direction de chefs célèbres comme René Jacobs, Philippe Herreweghe, William Christie, John Eliot Gardiner... Grand admirateur de Klaus Nomi, il lui a dédié sa version de l'Air du froid ("What Power Art Thou?"), parue en 2010 sur son CD O Solitude (Decca).

@@danielacento4098 Lo ascoltato appena adesso in " va tacito" Handel, mai sentito prima, bravissimo! Ma come ho detto prima tutti noi abbiamo quelli preferiti, non perche sono piu bravi degli altri. Personalmente, non mi piace troppo vibrato specialmente nel Barocco. Conosco personalmente James Bowman, e Emma Kirkby. Sfortunatamente non avro mai la possibilita di vedere "L'arpeggiata di Christina Pluhar, non verra mai qui dove vivo.

Verdi prati is available (as part of complete score of Alcina, or separately, also under Alcina) at imslp.org Text in Italian and English. The gist is that everything is subject to change, set to a sweetly sighing sarabande. Beats saying, "Life sucks, then you die." The performance is exquisite. Cheers through tears to il caro sassone.

The vocal timbre seems very religioso to me especially in the A section. The organ background doesn't help (& has no relation to Handel's theater practice). I dont hear the pain of separation that the operatic character is experiencing. Why ruin Handel's conception by starting the aria without the recit before? As done here it totally distorts a fine dramatic effect that the composer labored over and revised a few times before he was satisfied. If one is going to treat an opera aria this way, why not just add the religious text (Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty) & have the organ louder. At least that approach would have a certain integrity.

Thank you for your input. To a certain extent, I completely agree with you. Probably every performance will have to be placed in its time. Of course, the composition is fixed, but the 'zeitgeist" is not. The same version recorded 50 years ago will probably no longer be appreciated today. That's the way it is. Commerce will certainly also play apart in this.
