This has to be the best performance of this piece by Handel ever! I recommended to John Hong that he listen to Bish play this piece and I think he did. OUTSTANDING! She uses every inch of this organ...it exciting and thrilling to listen to her attack on this piece! Praise the Lord!

Marvelous! Only in the Christian faith will you find the music which lifts the soul to Heaven! Lifts, not crushes or degrades. Christ, the King of kings, and Lord of lords! Yes, to Him all shall one day bow, believer or no.

It is said that Handel spent days on end in his quarters and did not emerge until he completed this work. He was in tears when he finally did emerge citing that he could see Heaven in all of its splendor as he composed this work. In this performance Diane Bish really captured the shear joy and jubilation Handel must have felt. Awesome!!

Ahh the Coventry Cathedral Harrison and Harrison... it's lovely but underrated having (deliberately) a more continental sound than the traditional British organ that that firm normally specialised in. It's not the biggest but very powerful and fires straight down the nave: very thrilling.

Fantastic. Thank you. Very Best Wishes. Derek De Maine. (actor) U.K.

Probably the most underrated Cathedral organ in the UK and one of the finest Harrison and Harrison organs around. Here they shed their traditional warm tone for something more "spikey" and continental and it really does sound wonderful blasting straight down the nave in that modern cathedral.

HWV 65 Nr. 44 is a complicated piece to play solo on organ. Händel and Jennens orchestrated this chorus, based on Revelation 19:15;9:6,16 (KJV), for choir and orchestra (including continuo, a carryover device from the Baroque and Rococo); I'm familiar with much of the continuo part (piano or harpsichord), which divetails into the strings.

Thanks for this excellent performance, and what a shame that You Tube has destroyed the continuity of the comments, so that they no longer form any kind of 'conversation,' which, in this case, looks as if it might have been interesting! The video does not (no doubt for good reasons) give much of an impression of this instrument, visually. We see only one 'half' of it. (Look ' Coventry Cathedral Organ.' It's worth the trouble.)

The PIPE Organ sounds so much superior than the ELECTRONIC, ONE HAS to deaf not to note the difference. Bish is outstanding,. This ORGAN has tremendous sound. Belleve Church ORGAN is stiff, and needs work.

There are excellent, outstanding and unique organs from all over the world. As said, each brings it's own character to the music, as does each organist. Just think, how boring, if they all sounded alike ! (That said, my personal liking is of Ernest Skinner's school of tonal design.) John Carleton Citrus Heights, Ca.
@mattbod11 жыл бұрын
American organs have a style of their own. A Skinner organ in defines the US organ and I think Ernest Skinner was way up their with Willis and Cavaille Coll in making organs with a unique character. I have a CD Carlo Curley (RIP my friend) playing the Skinner organ at Girard College Chapel and the Vox humana is the sweetest I have ever heard. As the the troll above two of America's best organists Virgil Fox and Carlo Curley loved Uk organs (Carlo even lived here): both studied in Europe.

@mattbod11 жыл бұрын
I think he meant living organists lol. Carpenter is a force of nature even if totally bizarre and prefers digital organs over pipe. Search here for his "rehearsal at Sydney" where he has a bizarre rant against his own profession. Very strange guy but played the whole Bach 48 at 11. Probably today's answer to Glenn Gould

Ermmm if you knew anything about organs you would know that big does not always mean best. It is the quality of the pipework and the voicing that makes an organ not the amount of pipes it has. I have played large organs that sound awful and small ones that sound delightful. Anyway why am i responding to an obvious troll.....?
@androscogg12 жыл бұрын
unfortunate, ignorant & embarassing. Give thanks that organs were invented in Europe, and marvel at their sound. Appreciate how American organs have the same core sound, but have evolved to include a much broader spectrum of tonality. & know that Organ music is alive & advancing. Pipe organ builders r as busy as ever. To witness, visit a church or orchestra hall, where most organs are located (because of sheer size) Listen, enjoy and learn about these amazingly complex instruments.
@mattbod11 жыл бұрын
She is good but hardly the best organist in the world. That is probably Olivier Latry of Notre Dame in France or David Briggs maybe.
