There's a surreal touch that this kind of music has on people. It plays out a story that causes you to grieve and feel something more than any book or TV show can.

I just found this song and man, listening through the whole thing the first time was truly a tear jerker. My mind could see both the warships of World War 1 and 2 in black and white. First in still photo, followed by a quick scene of the ship moving through the waters with her guns aimed high before showing a half-transparent photo of a KanColle girl matching the ship next to it. It was surreal as I could faintly see text in imaginary form. Text of the ship class and name as the seconds tick by, showcasing all of them and of the Imperial Japanese Navy in particular. As I write this while looping this, these watery eyes and shaky lips to my gritting teeth, this song reminds of like a tribute kind of song to the proud sailors of the Imperial Japanese Navy but also to those who fought proudly: The Kriegsmarine, The United States Navy, Her Majesty's Royal Navy and the list goes on. Proud warships that sunk in battle, legendary warships scrapped or used as test dummies for nuclear weapons, to those who survived all the way up to this point as either museums or mothballed for the day these old and proud ships they either are scrapped or to be recalled into the fray once more. The sailors who proudly saluted on top of the decks of these mighty warships like Arizona, Yamato, Bismarck, Kongo-class, Warspite, Roma, North Carolina, Atlanta, Jeaneu, Indianapolis, Lexington, Shoukaku, Ark Royal, Nagato and the list goes on and on and all these sailors and ships that pass by in memory as this song plays to the echoes of the ocean depths. There is no powerful emotion that overcomes the one I tend to feel when I hear music like this. Picturing each Kantai girl next to every warship, like those that sunk in the Naval Battles of Guadalcanal and the Battle for Midway. From the destroyers Yudachi who fought hard until the end, echoing out poi as loudly as she could. To Akatsuki who met a tragic end to the Atlanta's amassed gun batteries, as if Atlanta was also saying "Forgive me..." before being struck by her own allies. Its these images that flash in your mind when you know history, when you know KanColle deeper than just a fantasy world, when you know that ships too have feelings. There's something about ships that captains who command them, a sort of attachment and understanding when the conflict is over or when they realize their last moments together when she sinks; with or without her beloved captain who took care of her, who looked after her and its crew, who made sure that survival and their mission was completed. Goodbyes are hard and there was no doubt in my mind that the captain of the Bismarck felt this way. The crew of the Yamato who sunk proudly with her without their flagship captain being among them. The destroyer captains who watched shells rain down upon them as they fiercely fired their last shells. The aircraft carriers who burned and sunk while desperately sending out every aircraft they could. To end this ridiculously long, maybe unsensible yet emotional comment... this song was beautiful and in my opinion, pays a lowkey tribute to the proud sailors of all nations of World War 2. Not bad for a Kantai Collection song indeed.

FPS Phoenix Late but, yeah. It’s really difficult for me to listen to this type of stuff. All my life I’ve been interested in WW1 and 2, Naval warfare to be exact. But it’s really hard to listen to things like this, when I read all about ships like Arizona, enterprise, Iowa, hell even lesser known ones like Richelieu, Yorktown and Hornet, I grow an attachment to the ships and hearing their fates really cuts deep. Enterprise scrapped, Arizona sunk yet honored, Iowa is getting dusty in the mothball fleet. It breaks my heart to look at an old battleship and see just how run down it is.

Yeah, I agree about the sad fates of so many of these ships. One that really got to me about how unjustly she was treated in the end was of USS Sealion ss-315. Did a fantastic job during, and after, WW2, only to be mothballed, and then towed out to a point off the coast of Newport, Rhode Island to be used as for target practice until sunk.

Imagine if titanic got summoned and learned the fate of her sisters Brittanic turned from ocean liner to hospital ship and sunk by mine Olympic survived both wars only to get scrapped because there wasn't any funds to keep her afloat after said war Not including the discovery of what she herself is remembered for When you look at things humanity doesn't really appreciate what it has till it's too late, time and time again Humanity is a foolish animal isn't it, smart enough to create so much but never smart enough to appreciate that which it does

@@noisyphilosopherkrk522 It's no wonder the Abyssals have risen to punish humanity, isn't it? They very well might have surfaced because they've been forgotten, motivated by feelings of betrayal and spite, carrying on their ancient purpose against a new enemy. How do the American ships sunk by the Able and Baker nuclear tests feel? They fought their hardest, they won, and then they were executed by the very people they tried to protect... *_Sink... Again and again... As many times as it takes..!_*
Hey, you've done your duty. Your mission is over. Rest now, know the peace you fought and bled and died for... [HEAVEN] awaits you, ship borne soul.
