Grant Hill is full of shit. his answer doesnt even make sense. what TeamUSA should have done is ask Jaylen Brown first. and if he declines, then add Derrick White. contrary to bullshit belief, there's nothing that White adds to the team that Jaylen Brown wouldn't. and purely from roster construction, it makes even less sense. they lost a forward in Kawhi Leonard. a wing. and they replaced him with a PG? how does that make sense? especially, when the roster already had 3 PGs in Steph Curry, Jrue Holiday and Tyrese Haliburton. what's the need for a 4th PG? also, Kevin Durant is unavailable. so thats a 6'11 guy who can't play. so the team is lacking perimeter wing and some of its size. again...why replace that with a 4th PG? ..and dont give us this bullshit about "roles". cause if that was the case, why was Kawhi on the team in the first place? he wasn't gonna start at forward (not with LeBron, Durant and Tatum on the team). so if TeamUSA believed Kawhi would embrace his role, then why wouldnt they believe Jaylen Brown wouldn't embrace the same role? if they think Brown would have an ego from winning the championship, NEWFLASH, they replaced him with a teammate of his who also just won the championship. how do we KNOW Derrick White won't have an ego now? its all just a guess and speculation. losing a big and a wing, and replacing them with a 4th PG doesnt make any sense to me. especially when you consider your starting BIG fouled out in 12mins, you need size and/or wing help. and dont give us bullshit about Whites defense. please. gimme a break. NIKE sponsors TeamUSA and there were rumblings in the past that non-NIKE athletes don't make the cut. i suppose this is more proof. in any event, conspiracy theories aside, they lost Kawhi Leonard and literally had the opportunity to replace him with Kawhi2.0. ask yourself, why didnt they (reallly)? this shit is crazy.
