The HR 922 although old, is like a long time trusted friend. I feel better knowing she is by my side and will be reliable when needed. I have bigger more powerful guns to conceal, but the 922 will do everything that I need it to do. Sometimes as my back-up.

I got the 622 made in 1973. When I bought it, it looked like it was beat to hell and back... twice over. After getting the rust off, bending out a few dents, and changing the mainspring, I was very surprised that it worked perfectly. No timing issues at all. This was a very inexpensive gun even when it was new, but it was definitely well-made. Kudos to H&R. If only more companies had that same dedication to quality....

I have a 1974 model with a 6" barrel and similar grips. I love it! Nothing fancy, just a well made affordable pistol. One thing sootch00 failed to mention (or maybe it doesn't apply to his particular pistol), is that you can use the cylinder pin to eject the spent cartridges. Just insert the pin into the front of the cylinder and push, and all 9 casings pop out of the cylinder at the same time.

For everyone's information, this is NOT the gun that killed RFK. He was shot with an Iver Johnson Cadet, a very similar 8-shot .22 revolver. It was People's exhibit #6 at the trial of Sirhan B. Sirhan. Sorry to bust your bubbles!

Not pretty, not fancy but rugged, reliable and very useful to the farmer, stockman and outdoorsman. H&R revolvers, in their interesting and versatile designs, are deeply underrated but should be considered handy like a good pocket knife. Don't you agree?

Fascinating info, sootch. I love that kind of stuff too. Looks like it was knocked around a little before it hit the drawer for that 60-year nap. Maybe it needed it! This little tyke is DA/SA??? That's pretty good for an inexpensive pop gun. I wonder what they went for back then. Ten, twenty dollars? Maybe more, 'cause I'm judging by the current condition, which is less than A1 I bet... That looked fun. Thanks for helping me learn something new today!
@slowpokebr5498 жыл бұрын
I found one just like this in a local gun shop. It was so cheap that I just had to have it. It looks like it's never been shot. I've carried it more than any .22 I've ever owned. It's light, has and excellent trigger and is shockingly accurate for such a little fart. And yes, it's way faster to just pull the cylinder to load it. Mine has a star extractor that dumps all the rounds at once.
@krat5725 жыл бұрын
I received this gun from my husband as a Christmas gift this year for personal safety. Only difference is when you release the pin, the cartridge slides out to the side for loading rather than loading one at a time. My only gripe is there is no safety. I keep it in a certain pocket in my purse where it won’t get moved around and nothing can accidentally pull the trigger or the hammer. Based on the effort needed to engage the trigger and the hammer I know the chances are almost 0 that it would discharge unintentionally. Still, I’d just feel better if it had a safety.
@1guyin1011 жыл бұрын
The designs were not elegant, but the H&Rs were made well and I would say are made better than some of the guns offered today. They made everything from single actions, to to swing out double actions to my favorite - the top breaks. If you run across one you should pick it up. They are still somewhat affordable, but are going up in value all the time.

I have one of these, same type of grips, probably made around the same time. However mine seems to only work in double action, the hammer won't lock back. Did you have that problem?

I have one of them lieing around here someplace, maybe in my junk firearm heap, lol. I sold an H&R .22 cowboy style (but it did have double action) not to long ago. Wonderful condition. Great review! I love my little H&R 622, which is the 6-shot version of the 922 - mine has a 6" barrel and a regular-sized grip. One rock-solid little plinker and a great snake gun. I've put just about every kind of .22 round available through it and it functions perfectly with all of them and it's dead-on accurate. I see 922's and 622's in gun shops used all the time for $150 or less - probably one of the best deals around for a .22 revolver, something that'll easily outlast its owner(s).
