If you went through the IRS free file portal, you cannot. It’s one of the big issues for people. If you simply started for free on H&R Block, you’ll automatically get the level your tax return requires.

The software recommended the option early on for tax filing status depending on the max refund. However, that may not be the best for you based on student loans, etc. You can’t print or save a copy until you file and pay. Then you can print and download a copy.

Hi, I have entered my weight incorrectly and Illinois state has rejected my filing due to that. While submitting first time filing i gave a 5 digit electronic signature. When i am filing a revised filing it is asking me to enter the same. I am entering the correct 5 digit electronic signature but it is giving a error as "please enter previous e-filing pin" could you please help me with this. I am stuck here.

It depends on the 1099. If that’s self employment income and you’re going to have a full schedule C, it will be self employment. In that case, TaxSlayer is our pick for self employment tax prep. Price is better for same ease of use.

None of these videos have address the problem of dropping and dragging our last year's tax forms from certified accounts who have put an encryption and password on the file. We are using H&R Block for the first time and haven't been able to drop and drag. Do you have any advice or directions? thanks

Not sure we understand. Child tax credit is one aspect of your tax liability. But your refund is determined mostly by how much taxes you had withheld all year.

What are the H+R packages at Walmart? I saw one that was $35 that said Deluxe + State. Would that be a better way to go then the videos $55 + $40 for state? Or am I thinking of something wrong

Those are the download editions. Check the price because it might not include an e-File fee. I think you pay another $20 to efile. And you’re assuming you need to pay the Deluxe edition. Deluxe is a waste for most - if you need Deluxe you probably are better off with other tax software options. Finally, we always recommend the online versus the download because too many people have computer issues.

Yes, almost every taxpayer takes the standard deduction. That's not what pushes you into a paid tier.
