I was there.. surprised and great race

I was at that race. Actually Had Pico hospitality tent pass where I watched on Saturday, siting on shore with feet in the river. Chose my grandstand seats for Sunday. Best view in unlimited racing. Man, grandstands went crazy when Chip brought it home! One of the best I have ever seen! Anybody but Bud was the usual opinion then...LOL. Next to Bill Muncey, Chip was the best ever. I know Villwock beat Muncey's win record. But he always seemed to be in the best boat whether it was the Bud or Elam. Plus he was a complete jerk to fans and whined all the time when he didn't win. Not a fan of his for sure. Chip....class act!!!!!

Had to laugh at anybody but Bud.. I sat in the Memorial Park area and that was our motto too

This was back then when they did not have no black boxes in the boats to do Tech inspections after the races to check for fuel flow and how many RPMs you're running per minute they could turn these boats up as much as they wanted to. They did not have no into violations to check the black boxes for how many RPMs you're putting out per minute. Nowadays if you go over the limit you lost the race
