H100 Fife: Our customer journey | Future of gas | SGN

H100 Fife will be the world's first green hydrogen gas network in Buckhaven and Denbeath, Fife. It will provide critical evidence for the UK Government’s hydrogen for heat policy decision in 2026.
Everyone who takes part will use green hydrogen, instead of natural gas, for heating and cooking. They will be playing an important role in the battle against climate change. If you have already registered or are considering participating in the project, or just want to find out more about it, then this video is for you. It explains how our hydrogen will be produced and what participants in our world-first project can expect throughout the different stages of the project.

Will it be cheaper than natural gas, can’t find the answer anywhere, I live in the catchment area

Hi Garry, Thanks for your question. It doesn’t cost to participate in H100 Fife. So your hydrogen gas will be billed at the energy unit price of natural gas, you’ll also remain with your existing gas supplier with the option of changing supplier at any time. You will however receive £1,000 for taking part, which is paid in instalments throughout the trial. As part of the project, you will also have your natural gas boiler and meter, and natural gas appliances, replaced with brand new alternatives.
