H2 Hummer water leak fix..

Simple fix to help keep water from soaking carpets inside a H2 Hummer.

I had this same issue with water pooling. It's the weather strip. Passenger side GM # 25868658, Driver side GM # 25868657 (that's the part number/s) as the rubber ages it sags and water backs up into the roof liner and runs down the column. Replace this part, make sure it's snug. Problem solved.

Wouldn’t hurt to vacuum. 😎. Just to add to the water intrusion issues I’ve experienced with my H2 on top of everything else you explained, as well as adding a few drainage holes which I did as well. The smaller three roof lights gaskets dry rot, I’ve replaced them Amazon has them fairly cheap just search For them. Also on the passenger side underneath the wiper blade cowl panel there is a plastic cover right above the fresh air vent hole for the a/c, the gasket dry rots and allows water intrusion through the a/c blower motor housing. Remove the plastic cover clean off gasket, apply a nice bead of silicone around the plastic outer perimeter, install and add an additional bead around the plastic outer edges. Solved my leaky issues. I’m in Florida we gets lots of rain here. ⛈

Also remember if a hole is smaller than 5/16" water won't weep. Oblong your holes a little by moving bit side to side. This will prevent a water bubble on a perfect circle hole.

If you do drill holes treat them with ospho metal treatment wait a couple days or until dry then repaint if you don't want corosion rust damage. Also any other rust you see can be treated to slow or stop corrosion with this product

Good questions.. but here in the Phoenix Arizona area vehicles are not prone to rust. The air is so dry! After drilling weep holes for any would-be water that leaked in, I did not paint anything.

thank you i have been wondering where the drains are, floor board gets wet, roof/headliner gets wet, its ruined now, water comes in by the grab bars, i know i need the new door seals, ordered them, but somebody said dirt and junk can get in thru the cowl and get down to blower motor? then cause blend doors to close, all the sudden with all these leaks, the a/c started blowing out the defrost only, then the a/c went full bore, control knobs wouldnt work, blower wouldnt shut off, had to pull fuse, then wipers got stuck on, had to pull fuse, what a cluster so now no heat, no defrost, no wipers,

Glad my post helped a bit. Rain water leaking in around the clearance lights on the roof and the sunroof are always the first things to start leaking. Water getting into the blower and causing damage (as it did in my H2) was a design error by GM in my opinion. Take your time and systematically work through each problem and you'll be good to go. Don't get discouraged.. it took me a couple of years to get everything dialed in.

CONSISE VID ,, BUT IT APPEARS SOME OF THOSE HOLES DRAIN INTO AN ECLESED AREA OF THE ROCKER PANEL AND WILL SIT THERE ,, CHECK THAT IT MIGHT BE A RUST ISSUE LATER ..

I have a tendency to use any of the "50 Year" Silicon stuff you buy at Lowe's & Home Depot. It works quite well as long as you follow the basic directions on the tube. And it's cheap!

Fortunately, here in Phoenix Arizona "rust" basically does not exist. Our air is bone dry and humidity is often below 10% (or thereabouts). Nothing stays wet Ling enough for rust to form. I'm not sure what kind of animals, kids, people, etc. the previous owner of my H2 had, but he certainly did not take care of it. I've had it about 6 years now. It's pretty much dialed in to my personal liking. Nothing leaks, AC blows ice cold, and everything works!

Chris.. I tried everything to get my sunroof to seal better when it is closed. Nothing seemed to work, so I just siliconed it shut. The glass panel is still there so the sun or moon will still shine through.

@@ANM149 DO NOT.... i repeat DO NOT silicone the sunroof. The water is meant to go threw the sunroof and into the 2 tubes in each corners inside the sunroof. If you seal it shut, you will have bigger problems with humidity afterwards. His biggest problem was sealing the sunroof. Now he has no way of determining the problem if it was the tubes being displaced or clogged up. The holes in the side door steps is a good option. But you will still have a leak somewhere else that youre not seeing but think that youre good since you drilled those holes. My guess is that he already sold this hummer and passed it to a other guy that threw it in the dumpster.

@JoHn-if6wy .. I still have the H2 and am happy to report there is no more water leaking in from anywhere. Many H2's did not come with a sunroof. That being said, using silicon to seal up my leaking and failing to close properly sunroof was a no brainer for me. Cheapest and simplest fixes first! If that doesn't work go to plan B. Here in Phoenix Arizona with extremely low humidity it is very rare to have humidity issues inside the cabin. Perhaps siliconeing the sunroof shut is not a good idea wherever you are? And just how did you come to your opinion to Never Silicone a Sunroof shut??
