This happened to my rig during a bad storm and shorted out the electrical due to the water being up to the brake pedal. I had towed to a savvy body shop who knew exactly what to do per your video. The damage was over $5000 and luckily my insurance paid it. That was in 2015 and I have only had a slight clog since that I easily cleared out with a long cable. Prior to that it used to overflow all the time into my lap and I had no clue as to why. Thanks for the video, hope it helps other H3 owners.

Good to have you back brother! Your videos have been extremely helpful keeping the old H3 running smooth at 270k. A video on how to find a parasitic battery drain would be extremely helpful. Tried via the usual culprits of damaged trailer harness, and new terminals to no avail. Don't know where to start using a multimeter.

I appreciate your kindness, J! Nice work on keeping your H3 running to 270,000 and beyond. I'm interested in helping troubleshoot your battery drain. Do you have an aftermarket headunit or security system? I had a severe "battery draw" but it ended up being the result of my worn ignition cylinder (what the key slides into). I could pull the key out without the switch fully seating to "off," which kept the accessory power on. Another contributor to my issue was a worn shifter switch (I had to press the shifter all the way forward until it stopped for the computer to recognize the transmission as being in "park"). The combination led to my battery dying due to a constant accessory draw.
@jthomas7631
@jthomas7631 Жыл бұрын
@@H3Humper Thanks for the reply ! No aftermarket accessories, everything is stock. I did have an issue not too long with a loose connection in the shifter switch which prevented the key from coming out . How were you able to find the battery draw?

The little eyebrow razor shaper thing that Women use on their eyebrows fits and cuts perfectly round hole to remove that cross... Did all 4 of mine mostly by feel and took off only a few pieces under the steering wheel, passenger side just the side panels.... Two in the rear, opened the rear door took a couple screws out of the plastic fender and reached it that way... It's been a couple years so I've forgotten exactly what all I removed but I do remember the rear was way easier than the front, and I've not had one drop of water since, and my H3 is kept outside all the time....

Guys, I did such an operation with drainage almost 2 years ago ... it doesn't help - in heavy rain, the drainage can't cope with the flow of water ... all the water flows under the carpet - it never dries! In the end, I sealed the sunroof. Completely dismantled the interior. Carpet dried for a week in the sun. The floor of the car was cleaned of rust and repainted. And I forgot about this problem. Yes, the sunroof won't open now - well, fuck it. I use it as a panoramic roof.

The panel should be similar with an airbag. I have another GM with side curtain airbags in the A-pillar and was able to remove the plastic trim without issue on that one, too. GM doesn't have a good track record with sunroof drains haha.

Easier to fish screen spline down from weep hole in sunroof. Screen spline has a small hole where you attach a straw from can of compressed air. Push the spline through blowing air every so often. Be sure that there is water in sunroof trough which will quickly drain out as you work the spline and air.

I don't know if anyone suggested this but I would have tried using compressed air to blow the lines
@H3Humper
@H3Humper 9 ай бұрын
Hey Pete, I've heard compressed air blows the line off the nipple due to the pressure building between the two. This led to some people having their drain tubes drain directly into the cab without them knowing. My method removes those interior tabs on the nipple, so the clogs shouldn't be a future issue. Compressed air is a clever and quick idea, it just might cause further difficulties on our H3's.

I cannot believe that one of out State's Attorney's Generals have not taken GM to court and make sure these sorrily designed drains, along with other issues ( like the poor yoke in the transfer case) , , are taken care of FREE. After all. mine began when my Hummer was still under warranty, and continued until my warranty was Expired, then it was my responsibility. That should have been illegal. It was certainly unethical of GM not to be a stand-up manufacturer and cover these. One Dealer had my 2008 Hummer 2 months trying to figure it out ? Really ? Never got it completely resolved.
