in a situation like this, where james' entire career and life is on the line, and all the evidence is held on very easily manipulated things (like images or text messages), you should never just assume that james is telling the truth. From tati's perspective as well, she wouldn't be concerned with providing exact evidence, rather just explaining her perspective and why she isn't supporting him anymore. james could have very easily renamed a contact, and then simulated the text message exchange in the way that is most beneficial to him.
