On behalf of singles in their 20s - To explain the relationship dynamic, there’s this weird in-between phase now when you’re dating someone that’s before becoming officially bf/gf, and after the casual hooking up phase. We usually call it “talking”, it’s extremely dumb, but just what everyone goes through when dating. It’s basically where you unofficially (or sometimes officially) agree to be exclusive with one another, and you do everything a couple would do, but you’re not to the level yet of having the label “bf/gf” or “significant others”. So Brooke can’t technically say Matt cheated on her because they didn’t have the label “bf/gf.” However, they had a mutual agreement (at least he made her promise) not to be with other people. And he broke that agreement
