Out train your opponents. Get an airsoft version of your regular pistol and practice around the house. I would say at this point shooting and reloading is as natural as breathing for me with my CZ.

I feel like this would be kinda useful. Maybe make a Half Life Alyx map based off your house with randomly spawning enemies and you are randomly spawned in a room and you have to defend yourself. When I buy VR I am definitely going to do this.

I can say with 99% accuracy that VR "training" won't do you much good, its easy to see it as simple target shooting but if your house were to he invaded its best to hide and call the cops, no need to put yourself in danger.
