Jeff Block explains the procedures of setting up these machines really well. We are an injection moulding company along with manual mills and lathes. We bought a 2002 VF2 a year ago and after watching Jeffs' videos we're using the machine confidently and as yet had no crashes.

Hello friend, when the letter X is inserted, the command alone creates the zero along with the X, how do I change that which is the parameters.
@rjc437010 жыл бұрын
There is a parameter to override the max spindle speed when doors are open, you can change it to 1200 if you'd like. there is also a few parameters that will allow you to disable the door safety features (along with setting 51)

why not using touchprobe?
@alexbar1011 жыл бұрын
why don't you guys bolt a stop to the upper right hand corner to the vice. we do that in my school so you can just put a part against the stop and your zero is always in the top left corner of your part. a lot easier for zeroing a part

Does any one have any tips on operating a cnc carbide grinder machine? If the set up is different than mills? It's been a couple of years since I last operated a cnc and could use the refreshment in setting up. Thank guys.
@bilee24611 жыл бұрын
Door override: 1) Power On 2) Reset 3) Settings/Graph 4) type in 51 5) push arrow down 6) push arrow right change setting 51 to "ON". You may now operate in a less safe condition. Oh you have to answer "Y" or "N" after you change the setting.
@patrickgray702810 жыл бұрын
Setting 51 is gone.. since like 2010ish. Now you have to manipulate the door locks physically.

what advices when i dont have any edge finder ? someone manually help me
@micahhunter27068 жыл бұрын
tear off a piece of paper and move it around in between the part and your cutter, moving the cutter closer to the part until the paper is stuck between them.
@congcpn918 жыл бұрын
that could be done with z axis. but with The X and Y , could it be exact ? and with it, should i turn on or off the spindle ?
@dunn-ng58788 жыл бұрын
+Cong Nguyen Thanh use paper for z axis tools offset setup. for X and Y use tool pointer if you don't have edge finder to setup work offset. jog the tool to the top left corner of the part to set up X and Y offset in offset page by pressing" part zero set "key, twice , one for X and one for Y.

Cong Nguyen Thanh blue up a 1/4 dowel pin...spin it at 1500... move in til the blue starts to come off....same thing as an edge finder without the spring

Using a drill chuck with an edge finder, bad practice. Using a mechanical edge finder on that machine seems slow and difficult considering the much easier options for a relatively expensive machine.

Not a fan of HAAS either. But if your not doing heavy machining, they're ok. Hated their conversation. I run a Kuraki and 2 OKK's...love my OKK's.

Eggsr2bcrushed....what's your idea of heavy machining? I use a 6" Fette, .250 passes at 80 ipm, these machines aren't made for that.
@Eggsr2bcrushed8 жыл бұрын
So you are telling me the 40k machine can't do the same things as way more expensive machines? Well no shit. Compare $ to $

Those door locks are terrible! The edge finder want to run at 1200 rpm. So now you have to shut the doors and pick up the part with the doors shut. I hate it!
@DothBeEthan11 жыл бұрын
Go into settings, find Door Hold Override, turn it on. Then you don't have to close the doors.
@pd4104gmbus11 жыл бұрын
DothBeEthan Haas does not allow that anymore. I would love it it it were that simple. Thanks anyhow!

pd4104gmbus my emco was a pain in the ass when it came to the doors and there wasnt any way on fanuc-o control to disable the door so i made a tiny part and mounted it hidden away so the switch is always in the position that the mill thinks the doors are always closed,, mucho better !! i never dug into a haas but even though it did take a little time of digging to find the switch (they stuck it pretty deep into the mill sheet metal/housing) it sure was worth the few hours i spent one night mechanically making it think the doors are forever shut,, just a thought for ya,, good luck. There were a couple things here that really annoyed me but maybe its because im old and grouchy!! If i ever see one of my guys with an indicator Not in its dedicated collet or an edge finder Not in its dedicated collet their ass is out the door,, last strett-info i saw said about 1600-1700rpm or so and thats what ive always used,,in mold work the TIR of any drill chuck isnt good enough, i dont use a drill chuck unless i just cant find a collet or tool holder that will grab the tool, from spotters or cntr-drills and twist drills to insert tools i always collet but maybe im doing it wrong,, hell who knows !! Maybe with a little luck the haas door switches wont be hard to find, hope this idea helps, on 20-40 hr runs being able to open the doors, slow the mill to a crawl at anytime and check stuff out makes life easier,, i also noticed that on super hot days leaving the doors open on really big g-code files running high spindle speeds/high axis feeds (.008 finish-pass,, no mess flying out) on cavity finishing that it lets everything run cooler but again that was my emco experience
@liquerinfrnt10 жыл бұрын
TRUBLEMAKR Thats a pretty stupid reason to fire someone... I'd think you messing with safety switches is much more worthy of being fired for. Much easier to change a parameter than permanently disable a switch that keeps less experienced operators safe. P.S. for an indicator the runout doesn't matter, so it couldn't matter less that it's in a drill chuck.

You obviously only operate in the theoretical plane.
