Haas spindle back from the re grind and drawbar force test

Spindles is back from a taper grind and I found out something about the spindle that I did not previously know
I also test out the drawbar force on both my Haas mills

Super insightful. Had two Haas spindles go on my watch. Never had time to tackle it like you are. Wanted to.

Yeah i always wanted to open one up just out of curiosity but if time is essential its definitely better just sending it out as a assembly to be repaired but obviously a lot more expensive

no e terminado de ver el vídeo cuando te escribo esto , por eso decía que rea mejor con la tuerca de ajuste ya que no tienes que lidiar con ese problema del calor para sacarlo , como comentas si se desajusta lo desarmas lo sacas y lo ajusta y listo , a mi ya me llegaron los baleros para el husillo espero en el mes tenga chance y se los pongo ,y cuestión del audio a mi no me afecta ya que como no hablo ingles solo leo lo del traductor , pero bueno saludos y a segur viendo tu vídeo y en estos días te mando un mensaje por instagram para que veas como esta mi husillo ,saludos y buen fin de semana

Hi Yeah that does make a nut assembly better but it was only my inexperiance that caused the heat issue, i had read online you cant get the collar off without heat but that turned out to be wrong but luckily the spindle was saved and straightened I hope your spindle rebuild goes well Thanks for watching Marc

love your videos.i purchased vf0 1999 year and it has spindle z axlis and vibration problems.when testing with micrometer when lowering Z 25cm difference is 0.4mm from side...how can i aligment z axis???

Hi If the alignment is out then maybe it needs a shim under the spindle cartridge, some of these were shimmed from factory, if the alignment issue is in the head/z axis rails that that is a very difficuly job to try and replace them and from what i have heard not something many people are willing to do

Hello. Could please write down tolerances for heat shrink "collets" ? Would you dare to convert this non repair friendly spindle to repair friendly by making two threads and two nuts in places of that collars ? Or spindle is hardened ?

Hi This is a 23 year old spindle so i wouldnt necessarily want to go by the sizes of it to reccomend to others and i do not have the original specs/dimensions im afraid As for changing it over to threaded collars i dont see the point as this set up does work fine if done properly, its only the failed bearings that cause an issue which will happen to everything over time regardless of design Thanks Marc

@@StanislavZachazevski The old Bridgeports are box way machines so if they are in good condition they are super rigid and much more suited to heavy cutting than a linear rail machine like the Haas

I wonder if the bend came from when you heated it to get those shrink fit collars off? When you were heating it, I was pretty concerned the heat would cause some distortion
