Jim, is it necessary to season the following: 1) Not only the top of the grates, but the bottom? 2) Tamers, burners, heat separaters? 3) Either inside and/or outside of the unit (LTE+ on cart)? 4) Vegetable Oil spray, ok? Thank you, Sir!
@grillingwithjimbo6 ай бұрын
@@bobstl8647 hi there…. it’s most important to season tops of the grates, where the food makes contact. Seasoning is going to help prevent corrosion and will also help flavor the food and prevent sticking, over time. Everything else just needs to be kept clean so ventilation and airflow isn’t impeded. As for the outside surfaces, any stainless steel polish will do, every so often. Apply with a microfiber cloth. For seasoning the grates, I find vegetable shortening or avocado oil works best. Those oils have a high smoke point, as opposed to olive oil which tends to burn off pretty quickly. Thanks for the questions. Keep em coming. I love this stuff.

I noticed that the heat zone separators in your grill are mounted on pegs however my grill (BLZ-4LTE2MG-LP) has rods that go front to back for hanging the heat zone separators. Those rods make it difficult/impossible to put a pan in when using the rotisserie. I was advised those rods are there to prevent warping of the firebox and will invalidate the warranty if removed however I don't think I've seen those rods in any of the grills that you use in your videos. Are the rods a new grill feature?
@grillingwithjimbo5 ай бұрын
@@pongoloboating Hi there… good question. Those rods are in the 44” pro grill and the marine grade grills. The 316L marine grade stainless, while corrosion resistant, isn’t as sturdy a steel as the 304 or 440 stainless steel that other Blaze grills are constructed of. While warping would be rare at max temps, our R and D department aired on the side of caution and added that extra bracing.

On the back of the grill, you should see a white wire with a black connector. It may be zip tied. Clip the ties and connect that wire to the transformer.

The cotter pins are always overlooked. It’s one of those things nobody thinks about during the install. If you have access to the bottom of the grill, take the drip tray out. You’ll be able to see the pins from underneath. From the front, it’s possible to get the pins with a needle nose pliers or, better yet, a long thin tool that’s slightly curved at the end. You’ll have to feel your way under the burner. Either find the loop of the pin and pull or find ends of the pins and try to push them out. Just be careful and take your time.

Sounds like you have a Blaze smoker box. There are several ways to use it. Most common way is fill it with soaked wood chips and put it under the cooking grate, on one side or the other. Gives you a hint of smoke flavor. The corners are completely sealed so you can also add water with some seasoning to help prevent the grill oven from getting too dried out, while cooking.

Hi there…. Thanks for the suggestion. I can certainly make a video detailing the burner adjustment. I’m not sure how quickly I’ll be able to, as I’m on the road much of the time. In the meantime, I’ll recommend you call our tech team at 866-976-9510. They’ll be able to walk you through any adjustments. They’ll probably ask for video of your burners while they’re lit. I can tell you this, proper preheating time, with the hood closed, is very important. There’s a lot of steel in the firebox that needs to heat up, as is the case with any premium grill. Because gas grills vent out the back, it takes some time to preheat to get the front portion of the grill up to desirable temps.

Hey now…. Just saw this from a few months ago. Sorry for the delayed response. As far as low temps, it’s hard to put an absolute number on it. The analog temp gauge is showing an average temp, which is true for any brand that using analog temp gauges. Depending on environment and time to preheat, beforehand, the temps could vary from 250 to 400 on low. That being said, I love those pro grills. On the blaze lte why is the rotisserie burner so low? When cooking whole chickens you have to remove the cooking grates to have more space. Can’t they increase the height to allow for more room?
@grillingwithjimbo3 жыл бұрын
Most instructional videos will recommend taking the grates out to use the rotisserie. In fact, whenever I rotisserie, I use the time to empty the firebox completely, and give everything a deep clean. Also, I prefer to take everything out so I can put a foil pan full of water and seasoning under the cook area. It really makes a difference with flavoring and you can use the liquid for basting. Design wise, it also has to do with the available space and the fact that the rear burner, being a very directional heat source, needs to line up with the rotisserie rod.

How do you replace pegs for flame tamers?
@grillingwithjimbo7 ай бұрын
The replacement pegs will have a slotted end for a flat head screwdriver, a threaded end, and a nut and washer. Depending on which one you’re replacing, you may need a second person. One to hold the nut, and one to screw it down tight. If it’s a peg on the back side, you’ll be able to reach it from underneath the grill body. If it’s a peg on the front, you may have to take the front panel off to access the firebox. (2 screws on each side of the front panel and 2 screws under each knob will release the front panel). I actually plan on making a video for this, since it’s a little difficult to explain and visualize but I hope this helps, for the time being.

@grillingwithjimbo Жыл бұрын
You’re probably fine. Did you season the grates? If so, they will blacken in a short amount of time. That’s what you want. It’s important to pre-heat with the lid closed, especially with the pro series. There’s a lot of material that needs to get to temp. I recommend, at least, 20 minutes. One question, based on your post…. Is the entire burner lighting up? You may have to remove the flame tamers to confirm. If not, I’ve got some easy troubleshooting tips but we’ll cross that bridge, if need be.

A small thin screwdriver might help. The pro grills are a little harder to get to from the front. For LTE or traditional grills, you might be able to use a long thin needle nose pliers. The flames are about 1/4” long and 2 of the burners have a lot of yellow flames. I have tried numerous time, resetting the regulator, with nothing getting better. I am questioning the type of regulator they install. It seems like a small regulator that I see on smaller grills? Do you have any regulator recommendations to use or anything else that I should check? After 2 weeks not very happy, my 15 years old Platinum Weber was much hotter and quicker to deliver. Thank you.
@grillingwithjimbo Жыл бұрын
Hi there…. I’ll run down the list and give you some suggestions. Ultimately the quickest way to troubleshoot, in real time, is to give our tech team a call. 866-976-9510. As far as pre heating, anything in a "premium" grill category is going to take a while to get to temp. When you step up from big box brand grill, you’re dealing with a lot more material with greater gauges of steal. It’s not uncommon to preheat, with the lid closed, for at least 20 minutes. Sometimes more, depending on environment. The 550 temp isn’t bad. The cooking surface, on average is going to be 150 - 200° hotter than the reading on the gauge. Those are analog temp gauges that measures ambient oven temps. They’re anything but dead accurate. A Weber will often show a higher reading because the temp gauge is located in a shorter lid and is getting hit with direct flame. I have a whole video on analog temp gauges and why you should ignore the numbers. Think of it, rather, as low, medium, high. Picture the temp gauge divided in thirds. In fact, the first Blaze grills had gauges that only showed low medium and high. The burners with low or yellow flame probably just need an air shutter adjustment. Our tech team can definitely help you with that. I suspect you may need to open the air shutter, slightly, letting more air in. I would wait to talk to tech before making that adjustment. They’ll probably ask for a video of your flames. It’s amazing what they can determine from a quick video. The supplied regulator should suffice although, on rare occasions, I’ve seen bad regulators straight out of the factory. Couple more questions so I might be able to offer more suggestions….. Are you running natural gas or propane? Are you in particularly high altitude area? Thanks for reaching out. We’ll get you in the right direction. Here’s a link to the analog temp gauge video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIjHnoGAmd2He8U

Thanks Jim for replying quickly, it is appreciate. My grill run propane and I live Montreal region Qc, Canada, so no high altitude. I’ve reviewed your analog video and now better understand how to interpret the temperature. I also have readjust the burners to allow a bit more gas and they now run steady with about 3/4” flames: much hotter over the grill. I’ve also allowed more time for preheat, and it was good. I also have to understand that I have to get used to a new equipment, after almost 20 years with something different. 😊 thanks again and keep up the good work. Do you also have a video on the infrared burner? I feel like the grills get so hot that it burns the meat and give a burnt taste. Any tips would be appreciated.
