In this video Hazel teaches you about equilibria and the Haber Process, covering ammonia yield, exothermic and endothermic reactions, and all the other terms needed to help with your GCSE Chemistry revision.
NOTE: I am not talking for the entire length of this video! The first 9 minutes are me telling you about the Haber Process and ammonia production, then the for the rest of the video I run through GCSE exam questions for you.
These videos are designed to help with your GCSE science revision.

I wasn't able to understand the lowering of temperature to make a higher yield, but now I do, thanks to you! You are literally going to save my Chemistry exam results 😄
@javariashahzad7388

Lowering the temp would lead to an increase in the yield . We know that even if there is a high rate it doesn't nessasarey means that the rate of yield increases , So in ammonia, the iron would oppose the change occured in the reaction and would try to reduce the change and would try to neutralize each other and if by favouring the forward reaction would increase as rate of reaction ( temp) is decreased would change the equilibrium from right to left

Thank you so much for this! On the final question you mentioned that ammonia liquifies, whereas the gases are cooled and then recycled. Does that mean that ammonia turns to a liquid (from a gas) at a lower temperature, and that the recyclable nitrogen and ammonia remain as gases due to a higher temperature needed to change the state? Thanks so much, I love your videos!

@jjbofficial3519
@jjbofficial3519 7 жыл бұрын
The video was amazing. I only have question. You said we have to decrease the temperature to give a high yield but where does the decrease occur? is it on the products side or the reactants side?
@SciencewithHazel
@SciencewithHazel 7 жыл бұрын
It's a closed system so whatever change in temperature you make will affect both the products and reactants. The point is that a decrease in temp favours the endothermic reaction i.e. the forward reaction which produces the products

Hi Hazel! I've only recently started to watch your videos and already, you are a fave amongst my friends and I! The Haber process is my worst topic, and I was just wondering at 9:56 how you got 2 moles of gas on one side? I just don't understand the shifting equilibrium :( Thanks a million xxx
@SciencewithHazel
@SciencewithHazel 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! So glad you guys find them useful. There are 2 moles of gas in total on the reactants side (the left hand side of the equation) as there is 1 mole of CH4 and 1 mole of H20, which are both in gaseous form (as shown by the (g) after each of the compounds) Hope that helps!
