Fun Fact: The 6th Sense was released August 6. I was working at a movie theater in 1999 (amazing year for movies) and got to see this a week early with a small group of cinema owners. Everybody was blown away and excited that it would be an unexpected hit. Next you guys need to watch UNBREAKABLE and SIGNS.

That's the girl's mother, not the maid, and she's poisoning her own daughter for the attention it brings to her as the parent of a seriously ill child. It's a psychological condition called Munchausen's by Proxy; she's not trying to kill her, but Munchhausen parents keep upping the ante and so do ultimately kill their children. The girl is a ghost because she's trying to save her little sister from becoming her mother's next victim.
@unclebounce1495

No it's not. It has nothing to do with Munchausen. It's a step mother and she is trying to alienate the father and kill the children. Has zero to do with Munchausen. Why anyone believes that is beyond me. Just refusing to admit the woman is evil

Haley Joel Osment was one of those fantastic child actors who knew the craft! he had made many movies while he was still a child. And now as an adult he's still acting, but you wouldn't recognize him with his tremendous beard.

Exactly, he was not just gifted (which I definitely think he was) he was also DEDICATED. In order to put his body in a state of high alert for one of these ghost scenes, unbeknownst to the adults around him, who would never have allowed it, he snuck into his trailer and repeatedly hit his head against a wall until he was elevated and shaking. Like he worked hard to be as amazing as he was, even at a really young age.

No, they are not lying. It’s just a game they play, Who had the best day? Instead of complaining about what a bad day they had, they tell each other about the best possible day. For the Mom, winning the lottery (monetary independence) and the boy, chosen 1st to lead a sports team at school.
@veggiesarefruits
@veggiesarefruits 3 ай бұрын
So...lying. It's sweet, and pretty harmless, but it is lying, definitionally. It's also an important scene to show that, while they both love each other very much, they don't want to face reality and tell each other how they're really feeling. The mom is in denial despite seeing clues all around her: the cabinets and drawers all opening in a matter of seconds, the glow next to Cole in every photograph, the violent writings in Cole's notebook. Cole pretends that he and Tommy are friends, doesn't tell her about the incident with the teacher in class, fills his room with happy drawings, tells her that his injuries are from playing sports at school, and obviously doesn't tell her about seeing ghosts until their final scene together in the car. Again, they don't talk to each other about how they're really feeling. Instead, they make up a game where they lie to each other about how they WISH their days had gone, as opposed to how their days actually went. During the car scene, we can see that they're both slowly opening up to each other. Previously, Mom didn't want Cole to see her crying when he came into her room after dinner. She tried to hide it. Even during the dinner scene, she tries to show strength instead of vulnerability when talking about how sad she was about her mother's passing. She tells him that she'd be sad if the pendant broke, but she wouldn't show it. The scene where they play the game together shows the walls up, and the scene in the car shows the walls coming down. A lot of people only focus on Cole finally opening up to his mother, but they don't recognize that they're both opening up for the first time.

Another great reaction guys. Though as someone from the Catholic faith (as is displayed in this movie), we aren’t committing ‘idolatry’ by owning religious figures. We don’t worship inanimate objects but simply use them as a physical form of reverence. We show our devotion by displaying these religious figures around our homes. Other Christian denominations don’t do this. We all practice in our own unique way. Just some info if you were curious 😊

My understanding (and feel free to correct me, as I'm not a Christian and never have been) is that saints and figures such as the Virgin Mary aren't worshiped, they are revered. All of which is a semantic issue, involving nuances that might well be challenging for non-native English speakers. No offense intended to our hosts.

Catholics, which is the type of church Cole went to, differentiate between idols and icons. Idols are physical things that are worshipped in and of themselves, and that is strictly forbidden by the Church. Icons are representations of holy objects or people in order to help with veneration, visualization in prayer, and a feeling of closeness to the Lord. We don’t worship the icons themselves. It’s a common misconception of Catholicism, but I just wanted to clear it up that we don’t worship idols or icons either! Great reaction!

In the beginning Cole is terrified of Malcom, like all the other ghosts but when he sees that Malcom can come inside the church, Cole knows that he is a good guy who won't hurt him. Malcom's wife could not stop grieving for him because he was still there and she could sense it. Of course, he wore the same clothes every day....there are so many little things. GREAT movie. About 30 years ago my mom told me something my younger sister told her. She was living at home with our parents and her bedroom was in the basement. Late one night/early morning she came upstairs to the kitchen to get something to drink. As she was standing in the kitchen, she said she saw a white misty figure drift from the living room, into the kitchen, into the family room, and out the door which led into the garage. They found out not long after that that the man who sold his home to my dad 30 years prior to that had passed away.

Awesome reaction! I didn't expect a new video so soon! Ya'll are on fire! In Christianity, we don't truly believe in ghosts (though I can't speak for every individual- just the ones I know). When you die, you go wherever God sends you- but you don't stay on Earth. We believe angels and demons are real, though we can't see them. Doesn't mean we don't have our own ghost stories and legends, though. I've heard of the jinn, too. Creatures made of fire. I've heard a number of stories about them. Fascinating. When it comes to the statues Cole had, I think he was trying to create a safe space, like he thought the ghosts couldn't go past them or something. I would call it more superstition than worship, you know? As a Lutheran (another denomination of Christianity), we don't have statues in our churches. We pray only to God, not to the Virgin Mary (nothing but respect for those who do, though). Respect all around, just like Jack Sparrow would say (though he'd say "Drinks all around!"). Sorry for the rambling. I just get so excited watching ya'lls reactions!

I’m a Lutheran too and have many Catholic friends. Christianity is very complicated. The tenants of a religion and how it’s practiced can be interpreted differently. It’s a bit like Sunni and Shia Muslims. But with Christianity you got the Catholics and Protestants and the Prodestants are broken into all kinds of different denomination like Baptists, Methodists, Lutheran. Then there are the Evangelicals. Not to mention the Mormons. But most people are afraid of ghosts.

This is indeed one of those films that you can never really watch in the same way twice. It's just as you say: Cole saw Malcolm *not* just because he doesn't like to share things with adults, but because Malcolm was a ghost all along and so he was already afraid of him. I understand that in Islam, it is forbidden to talk directly to the spirit of a dead person and indeed *praying* to the deceased, or ancestor worship, is very much frowned upon in Christianity as well. Nonetheless, there is a belief in Christian/European tradition that some spirits linger before, or instead of, moving on, either because they haven't accepted the fact of their own demise or because of some great injustice that befell them which leaves them restless and that some people are gifted and/or cursed with the ability to see them. This film plays upon all three traditions with an amazing twist, like you said. If you want a more lighthearted film that plays on similar concepts, see Jerry Zucker's "Ghosts" (1990). If you simply like films of an "I'll have to watch that again" kind, then a good non-supernatural one is "Fight Club" (1999). I admit that with the latter though, on the modesty front, your team might be kept a little busy.

Cole didn't see or interact with Vincent in the movie.

I think Cole was unafraid of Malcolm, though HE knew Malcolm was a ghost, because Malcolm came into the church. Cole went there to seek sanctuary when Malcolm (a ghost) was first following him on the street. Instead of being barred from entering, Malcolm could come in and wasn't uncomfortable being in God's house. Cole recognized what that meant about Malcolm's soul.

The same child actor played a role in the movie "Pay it Forward". I think it's a very heartwarming, emotional movie about what good one person can do if they set their minds to it. (If you two ever decide to do a reaction to that type of Movie)

2:55 it is absolutely that easy to purchase a legal gun in the US. Most people can purchase a legal one easier than an illegal one. But the gun Vincent uses it most likely Malcolm's. There's an empty holster on the bedroom floor. It's reasonable to assume if it was brought by Vincent, then the holster would be with the rest of Vincent's belongings on the bathroom floor.

1. Haley Joel Osment played Forrestt Gump Jr, in "AI" and absolutely kills in this.🤩 2. I first knew when he met his wife when she was morning him alone at the anniversary meal. Only one place setting. 3. I watched my now ex to see when she got it but she never picked it up until the reveal. 4. They help each other. 5. Cole knew he wouldn't see Malcolm again. 6. Cole to Malcolm, "How can you help me, if you don't believe me?" "Some magic's real". 7. A fun movie for review of a Bruce Willis is, "The Last Boy Scout". HINT HINT 8. Missing you Bruce.😢

I finally got to sit down and watch and I was not disappointed. Your reactions were great! I love that the twist in this movie still works and it was a lot of fun to see how the storytelling/filmmaking (like a magic trick with a penny) is so good at imisdirecting and fooling new audiences to this day. I got a big laugh when you referenced Lord of the Rings, but I was also glad to see that the heartfelt emotion between the characters still resonates today. Oh, and thank you for talking about Jinn / Djinn. To answer some of your questions 1) yes, it is that easy to get a gun and that ghost kid probably accidentally shot himself. 2) yes, we’re probably the only country in the world that advertises medicine 3) That was actually the girls mother who poisoned her. There is a real mental illness called “Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy” where caregivers exaggerate, feign, or induce illness in another person for either sympathy or benefit. Fun Facts: Bruce Willis in the 80s was considered a TV comedian until Die Hard in 1988. For most of his career he is recognized as an Action Star but The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Moonrise Kingdom demonstrated he had more range as an actor. Haley Joel Osment and Tony Collette were nominated for acting. M Night Shymalan was nominated for best Director, Writer, and Best Picture. His first 4 films (6 Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village ) were very strong and you should do reactions. However, his later films started losing quality and a few are considered terrible. His later films The Visit and Split are really great, while Glass was a bit of a let down. Haley Joel Osment wisely didn’t get caught up with the fame and disfunction of Hollywood after the Sixth Sense. He did star in some high profile films, such as “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” (2001) a Steven Spielberg film, but took time off to grow up, go to college, and keep out of the limelight light. He has worked consistently but chosen to smaller films, TV comedies, and voice acting. Keep up the reactions coming 😁

21:43 Interesting point. This is one of the bigger dividing lines between Catholics and Protestants in Christianity. Catholics use symbology a lot and don't consider it idol worship while the Protestant movement finds it far too close to idolatry to keep such images. From what I remember, Islam takes it a step further and has no images of any figures from the Quran nor even images of animals in a Mosque to avoid the possibility of idol worship at all costs, a wise move to avoid the possibility of future generations devolving into idolatry and mistaking said images for something they're not supposed to be. Whether any of this is truly idolatry or not is something I don't think we'll know until judgement day, but I wouldn't personally risk it.

It's art. Catholics find Protestant churches boring, and not as beautiful. The art is seen as another form of praising God, by using our gifts to glorify. Catholics don't pray to statues. Gets them in the mood.

You missed the last important line "you were never second" yelling "the kid knew the kid knew!" Maybe if its the last moments of the movie, understand its probably important, meaningful lines you should listen to. Thats why you should think about taking the advice of other posters and adding a segment where you talk about the film afterwards, then you couldve talked about how suprised you were.
