The human body's preferred energy source is carbohydrates, stored as glycogen in muscle tissue and the liver. Removing carbs simply forces the body to deplete these stores and eventually run on ketones. Ketones are like diesel in comparison to high octane jet fuel glucose. Trying to do explosive training or anything that requires bursts of energy becomes significantly inhibited on low carb diets. My anecdotal experience of low or zero carb diets is that people who laud them the loudest tend to have the least control over appetite and impulse eating. It provides a safe structure for controlling blood glucose and insulin response. However, the trade off is power, muscle growth and anaerobic performance. All of these are important in my opinion and shouldn't be traded unless absolutely necessary. People would get far better benefits from a weekly 36 hour fast.

My man. My wife and I went Dubai 12/13 years ago. We’ve had kids since then. We didn’t like Dubai either. We said. It’s done, we’ve ticked it off the list and won’t come back. Fast forward to the present day and both my kids friends (along with their parents) go Dubai. We’re from London and British Asians, but as long as I can prolong taking them there. The happier I will be. Ibiza is on the list.

Thomas hello. I remember you said the colitis began after a trip or during one. Mate, ill throw my 2 cents. Colitis is simply a result of an infection. It is my belief that what you have is either an enterovirus or an STI. Given the fact you re single and may have tapped a few ones during a night out or whatever. Mycoplasma, which is super hard to find. Chlamydia (LGV) which can absolutely do what you have (and may not be traced in the urine but travels through pp). Could even be HPV. I'd say do a proper colonoscopy (again) all the way up (not just rectum) and completely ditch supplements for now. And see if the WBC in blood work (lymphocytes, neutrophils etc) are off at all (morning, fasted). You could just blindly hop on treatment for those with antibiotics but you'd need a massive amount of probiotics and diet during the 21 days. My 2 cents is this thing is an underlying infection, especially if you had low fever during the initial stages. Also, they should definitely be checking for the C word (hence why the doc needs to check the entire colon and possibly take biopsies). Best of luck.
@TMCycles7 ай бұрын
Appreciate the input, but this isn't an infection, I've been private for testing including STI, second scope on Saturday plus biopsies confirm colitis

Recently went keto ( 3 months ago) after a brain tumour diagnosis. Went keto due to the positive effects it has on all tumours and to make sure any source of sugar was cut out blah blah blah. But I've felt great on it to be fair. My pumps are a little less in the gym but strengh hasn't moved and still in good shape. I did lose about 4lbs in first week or so but that was more than likely glycogen leaving my body. Anyway, if anyone's thinking of keto I'd recommend it and I do feel good and healthier ( minus the apple in my brain)

Mate don’t be dismissive of using azathriroprine. I’ve been a bodybuilder for years and had colitis for well over 14 years now. I take 4.8 grams of mezavant a day, 150mg aza and 50mg alopurinol (which is a gout med but works well in combination with the aza) I’ve used anabolics for years too while taking all this medication. Even using anabolics while being on prednisone for a flare and the meds have kept me reasonably trouble free for 14 years. Next stage would be the biologics infusions but after that you’re faced with surgery so what I’m saying is try every step to prolong how long you can keep your colon for man. If you have any questions, I’ll drop my email to you! Good luck dude!

Did you have enough fat on carnivore? Usually helps with bowel movements. Was it definitely constipation? Or just less material left over from digestion so less requirement to poop. I'm sure you're aware but meat is almost entirely absorbed and digested
@DJTCOOPS8 ай бұрын
Sorry just seen you said you was high fat. In terms of microbiome, people seem to do very well with their testing when on carnivore. Have a look there's people sharing their results. Although I appreciate it's not for everyone and definitely hard-core in a sense. I'm animal based mostly. IBS and do fine on meat and fruit and small amounts of veg

Luckily I also responded well to Mesalazine too so it’s hard to say if the shrooms are THE reason I am on top of my UC… But there are a few studies online about mushrooms reducing inflammation and symptoms of IBD, might be worth a shot man. You need to keep going with carnivore. A lot of the downsides go away. The crap sessions and no pump pass - maybe I cheated and added Greek yoghurt and honey. But I lost fat without losing the muscle and weight. Had great gains - felt I’d not been hitting protein targets before. For cost/taste I did end up eating a lot of burgers and eggs and bacon.

I'd say all the elements, just using the LOWFODMAP chart

@@TMCycles I used to work in a low FODMAP clinic, it might be worth eliminating all aspects of a low FODMAP diet and then one by one trying each aspect of low FODMAP for three days (e.g sorbitol, mannitol) and logging the effects. A time consuming process but it may help with identifying the specific trigger for you personally.
